At our Ruston, La site we manufacture an industrial insulation for use in high temperature applications.

Johns Manville is currently seeking qualified applicants for the position of DE Mill Operator. This production position is working to ensure safe work practices while working to control DE at the DE Mill and monitor the DE Tank. The job requires that the employee be able to work safely and follow safety rules. Employee must be dependable, able to follow instructions and directions according to established operating procedures.
The base hourly rate for DE Mill Operator is: $24.59/Hr.
This position requires a rotating shift schedule from Monday to Thursday and additional shifts on Fridays as needed. The typical hours are 9:00 a.m.–7:30 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.–5:30 a.m.
Job Functions
- Operate DE Mill and related equipment
- Set rail car hopper for off loading
- Operate DE Mill control panel
- Capture samples for screening
- Run moisture and grind test on samples
- Check scales
- Operate Forklift
- Drive Spot truck to move trash trailer on premises
- Monitor level of DE tank and record findings
- Manage Sweco waste
- Collects and bales cardboard
- Regular attendance is required.
- Performs other duties as directed.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or general education degree (GED); six months related experience and or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to read, write and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions.

Work Environment
This job is in an industrial, manufacturing environment. The job requires working frequently around and with heavy machinery with moving mechanical parts, industrial ovens, and mobile equipment. The environment is not climate controlled and employees must be able to work in environments that may be extremely hot and humid or cold depending upon the operation and the season. Walking surfaces can be wet, dusty, and uneven. Areas of the building where work must be done have high noise levels, vibration, and/or fumes. Some working areas contain the presence of airborne particles which can irritate the skin or eyes. Employees are required to wear personal protective equipment which includes steel toed shoes, ear protection, eye protection and in certain areas may be required to where dust masks, respirators, or head protection.
