May 20, 2024 – July 12, 2024.Typically, Monday – Friday 10:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. with an hour lunch (20 hours/week), although hours may vary depending on events inside DOS.





Job Summary

The Office of the Dean of Students at the University of Kentucky seeks a dedicated and enthusiastic Summer Intern to join our team. This position offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in various aspects of student affairs and contribute to enriching our student body. The intern will assist with daily operations and special projects across multiple areas within the Dean of Students (DOS) area.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support the coordination and execution of programs and services offered by the DOS area, including but not limited to the Center for Support and Intervention, Fraternity and Sorority Life, LGBTQ+ Resources, Religious and Spiritual Life, Residence Life, Student Conduct, Student Organizations and Activities, and the Veterans Resource Center.
  • Assist with planning and implementing events and workshops to promote student engagement and well-being.
  • Participate in developing and assessing policy and procedure documentation.
  • Provide administrative support such as scheduling, preparing meeting materials, and maintaining records.
  • Collaborate with staff members on research and data collection to support ongoing projects and initiatives.
  • Engage in professional development activities designed to enhance knowledge of student affairs and explore potential career paths within the field.


Educational Opportunities:
  • Gain comprehensive exposure to the operations of the Dean of Students area in a major university setting.
  • Develop a deeper understanding of student support services and program management.
  • Build professional project coordination, event management, and administrative support skills.
  • Participate in mentorship sessions with experienced professionals in student affairs.


This position is also Federal Work-Study eligible, if you qualify.

Preferred Education/Experience
  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program with an interest in Higher Education, Student Affairs, or a related field.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a diverse and dynamic environment.
  • Demonstrated interest in supporting and developing student-centric initiatives.
