The nature of the duties of this position require sustained physical effort involving manual skill, lifting over 50 lbs, dexterity, and hand/eye coordination.



Shift

Job Summary

The University of Kentucky Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory (UKVDL) develops and applies state-of-the-art diagnostic methodology to improve animal health and marketability, to protect the public health and to assist in the preservation of the human­-animal bond through the principles of One Health. This position in the Necropsy Department works under the guidance of the Research Analyst and/or Diagnostic Laboratory Supervisor as a member of a team of 3 principal laboratory technicians that assist a large group of veterinary pathologists in doing animal necropsy examinations. Additional duties including maintaining a safe/effective work environment by cleaning and maintain the necropsy laboratory.

This position is located at the Coldstream Research Campus off Newtown Pike (great location and free parking).

Ability to safely operate well saw, striker saw, and band saw(meat saw.)

Preferred Education/Experience

Knowledge of anatomy and necropsy and/or surgery experience is preferred. Ability to work independently on tissue dissection tasks, as directed by pathology staff.
