Alfred State is looking for a dynamic professional as the Director of ACE/ASAP Programs. This position will oversee the implementation and management of the Advancing Success in Associate Pathways (ASAP) and Advancing Completion through Engagement (ACE) programs at Alfred State College. These programs are designed to support students in completing their degrees on time by providing comprehensive academic, financial, and personal support. The Director will be responsible for the overall administration and supervision of both programs, all components, and staff. The Director will work to ensure successful provision of comprehensive student support services, a positive profile within the campus and the SUNY community, and compliance with all internal and SUNY regulations. The director will be expected to bring innovative ideas and high energy to the day-to-day operations of the programs that will help meet student needs and the mission of the college. The director will report to the Dean of Student Success and Academic Supports.
This individual will work collaboratively with the staff in the Student Success and EOP areas. This person will work directly with the Registrar's, Admissions, and Financial Aid offices.
This is a 12-month position.
The successful candidate will:
- Lead the implementation and coordination of the program components, data management, outcomes assessment, and timely submission ensuring alignment with SUNY guidelines, policies, and objectives.
- Recruit, train, and supervise program staff, fostering a collaborative and student-centered environment.
- Provide day-to-day oversight and successful delivery of academic, pre-professional, and financial supports for program students.
- Develop recruitment strategy and processes to maintain enrollment targets, in collaboration with Admissions, Student Records, and Financial Services.
- Develop strategies to meet enrollment targets and support student retention through comprehensive services.
- Design, implement, and assess a new student summer immersion program for incoming and transfer students
- Manage the program budget, ensuring effective allocation of resources and compliance with funding requirements.
- Monitor program metrics and utilize data to inform decision-making and program management.
- Establish and maintain relationships with internal departments (Admissions, Student Records, and Financial Services) and external partners to enhance program effectiveness.
- Represent the ACE/ASP programs on relevant committees, within and outside the Institution, develop and maintain relationships that support the program to operate successfully.
- Implement SUNY ACE/ASAP policy and maintain college policies and processes to meet the programs' mission, along with developing local strategies to meet program recruitment/enrollment targets.
- Formulate and implement local program policies and processes that align with the overarching mission of ACE and ASAP.
- Attend required meetings with SUNY Central Staff, prepare reports for the College Administration, SUNY Office of Academic Affairs, and share outcomes each semester with college leadership.
- Willingness to work evenings and weekends as needed.
Job Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Master's degree in higher education, counseling, educational psychology, social work, or related field
- Minimum of five years in higher education administration, with a focus on student success initiatives and program management.
- Demonstrated successful experience in program development and management within higher education that is inclusive of coordination of services, strategy development, staff supervision, data management, and outcomes assessment.
- Experience with expenditure planning and budget oversight.
- Experience working within a college-related setting supporting student development and success.
- Strong understanding of the academic, financial, and wellness needs of college students.
- Proficiency in data analysis and familiarity with student information.
- Strong leadership and organizational skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to cultivate and develop inclusive and equitable working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and external stakeholders.
- Knowledge of, and experience with, best practices for student retention and completion within higher education.
- Demonstrated dedication to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion within an educational setting.
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience working with a wide variety of Alfred State College constituents from both Academic Affairs and Student Affairs divisions.
- Prior experience with instructional technology and student information database applications such as Brightspace and Banner.
- Proficiency in computer systems, including Microsoft Office.
- Creative, organized, and motivated individual dedicated to student development.
