Why American Express

When you sell with Amex, doors open. CFOs take the meeting. Controllers lean in. Our brand equity, balance sheet, and payments expertise are second to none and they give you instant credibility in the market.

How will you make an impact in this role?

American Express has one of the most trusted brands in global payments and we’re bringing that scale, credibility, and innovation to how mid-market businesses manage Accounts Payable.

As a Director – B2B Sales & Solutions, you will lead a team of AP Automation Sales Consultants who lead mid-market clients through payment modernization strategies that unlock working capital and transition B2B payments into scalable, card-enabled workflows. You will operate at the intersection of software, payments and financial strategy – advancing solutions backed by a brand CFOs already trust.

This role is ideal for a high-performing fintech or sales leader ready to elevate into complex, consultative engagements that drive meaningful revenue growth and long-term charge volume.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead strategy and execution across a mid-market portfolio in partnership with Account Managers, prioritizing high-value opportunities and guiding deals from qualification through implementation and revenue ramp
  • Build and deepen executive relationships with CFOs, Controllers, and finance leaders, shaping their vision for AP transformation
  • Elevate conversations beyond process efficiency to enterprise value creation — positioning AP automation as a driver of cash flow optimization, control, and scalable growth
  • Champion adoption of card-enabled payment solutions that generate sustained charge volume and long-term revenue streams for American Express
  • Act as the central point of leadership across Sales, Payments, Product, Marketing, and Implementation teams to accelerate opportunity progression and ensure alignment
  • Drive disciplined pipeline governance with a focus on quality, forecast accuracy, velocity, and monetization outcomes
  • Oversee seamless solution delivery and early adoption to ensure clients realize value and revenue objectives are achieved

What Success Looks Like

  • A strategically curated pipeline of high-quality mid-market opportunities
  • Closed deals that convert into recurring, scalable payment volume
  • Executive relationships grounded in credibility, insight, and measurable business impact
  • Strong cross-functional alignment that accelerates execution
  • Sustainable revenue growth driven by payment transformation initiatives

Who Thrives in This Role

  • 4-8 years of experience in B2B sales within fintech, SaaS, payments, or financial services
  • Demonstrated ability to influence senior finance and operations stakeholders
  • Strategic thinker with a strong understanding of financial workflows and how money moves through an organization
  • Confident leading complex, multi-stakeholder sales cycles
  • Competitive, coachable, and motivated by long-term revenue impact
  • Interested in building deep expertise in payments strategy and financial technology
