Position Summary
The Director of Commercial Planning is a proven leader who can act as an effective liaison between marketing and sales. Also, the position will provide significant value in the development of sales tools and implementation of specific brand initiatives throughout the sales organization. The Director has strong analytical & interpersonal skills. They will interact with key distributor management as well as key accounts in the retail trade in targeted metropolitan markets on specific brand initiatives. This role is remote.
Role & Responsibilities
Communication and Coordination:
- Collect and consolidate inputs from Marketing leads, Trade Marketing, and Division Sales on initiatives, new items (SKUs) or programs during, but not exclusive to, the brand planning process
- Coordinate communication with the sales organization and Divisions from the Marketing team.
- Present priorities, initiatives, and programs to the field in a similar professional format: Monthly, Quarterly, and Annually.
- “Guide” to the field audience on national program presentations at virtual or in-person National Sales Meeting
- Actively participate in sales functions (weekly DVP calls, QBR, NABCA events, WSWA events)
- Manage a calendar, and direct, if necessary, when in the trade gathering input, intelligence, and observations on our brands, activation and competitive activity.
- Participate in Distributor/Broker QBRs.
- Lead presentations on brands, insights or strategy to wholesalers/customers at events such as NABCA or WSWA
- Plan and coordinate local/regional program needs
- Review and advise on POS orders and breakout methodology for Sales across the divisions.
- Help Sales in developing market targets for programs by identifying A, B, C type accounts and execution needs for programs: i.e. display coverage, POS needed, etc.
- Manage/monitor a “Regional Marketing” budget via Flex funds and others to create focused spending on key initiatives decided upon by Sales and Marketing.
- Develop agency connections and production capabilities for the creation of materials for localized program needs. Work in collaboration with Trade/Brand Marketing to ensure alignment of strategy and look and feel.
- Provide relevant feedback to marketing regarding local market needs/performance on marketing initiatives
- Create a functional and mutually beneficial Post Program Analysis methodology and formats to enable the company to understand what is effective and where to trim waste or costs. Collaborate with Sales and Marketing
- Ensure all programs serve all relevant states and have targeted sub-channel elements that serve those properly.
Inventories and Introductions – Logistics:
- Monitor and provide recommendations regarding Proximo inventories
- Understand and inform of when new items & sizes are scheduled to be introduced
- Allocation of limited brand sku’s
- Coordinate & champion new item introductions
Attendance and Leadership Required:
- Attend weekly Customer Service meeting
- Attend monthly MBR meeting
Knowledge and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Six plus years’ relevant experience in the consumer goods industry, spirits experience, and/or 3-tier distribution experience preferred.
- Demonstrated sales/brand management abilities with proven success in delivering sales goals and objectives.
- Ability to build and maintain strategic working relationships with distributors and internal teams and select key accounts
- Proven team leader who places a high value on working together internally to achieve a common goal
- Proficient in Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Ability to navigate Tableau, VIP, Great Vines, Diver, and other sales reporting systems
- Strong interpersonal, influencing, negotiation, time management, and presentation skills required
- Must have a valid state driver’s license
