The Loyalty & Benefits Platform team is part of the Enterprise Platforms – combining product and engineering skillsets into a single organization to improve speed to market and increase the value of the products and services for American Express’ customers.  

Our team enables many of the key product features used by our Cardmembers every day; such as earning & redeeming their points, accessing lounges & receiving the benefits from elite hotel and airline guest status. 

We power new product features as well as existing ones, building highly configurable core capabilities as it relates to account attributes, customer enrollment, offer & program set-up, qualification, tracking, redemption, fulfillment, channel & partner integrations of various Loyalty & Benefits products for our customers. 

Key Responsibilities:

The Director of Digital Product Management will support the development, evolution, and transformation of the Global Loyalty & Benefits data platform, enabling scalable data products and capabilities across loyalty, offers, benefits, and rewards. This role will lead teams responsible for data publishing, curation, and lifecycle management on the enterprise Big Data platform (LUMI), while supporting business users and downstream systems through reliable, governed, and consumable data. Additionally, this Director is accountable for enabling financial reporting integrations, business controls, data governance, and the adoption of advanced analytics and AI-driven use cases across the Loyalty ecosystem.

The incumbent and his/her team are responsible for:

  • Defines data product outcomes with clearly articulated metrics and targets aligned to the Global Loyalty & Benefits product portfolio vision, enterprise data strategy, and organizational outcomes.
  • Owns the data product roadmap for Loyalty & Benefits, including data publishing, maintenance, and transformation on the LUMI platform.
  • Enables reliable and compliant data delivery to Financial Reporting Systems to support accounting, reconciliation, regulatory, and audit requirements.
  • Partners with business, analytics, and technology teams to support data consumers through self-service access, documentation, and data quality transparency.
  • Drives the development of data capabilities that enable loyalty control, detection, and prevention use cases, in partnership with Risk, Fraud, and Compliance teams.
  • Leads the adoption of AI and advanced analytics within the data domain, ensuring data products are AI-ready and support intelligent insights, anomaly detection, automation, and personalization use cases.
  • Understands and applies emerging data, analytics, and AI trends and industry best practices into the data product roadmap and delivery approach.
  • Communicates and builds consensus across Product, Platform, Technology, Finance, Risk, Analytics, and Reporting teams to deliver data capabilities that balance value, risk, and delivery constraints.
  • Leads product managers and associate product managers to translate the data product roadmap into well-defined epics and features with clear acceptance criteria.
  • Facilitates strong collaboration and alignment across cross-functional teams including engineering, architecture, analytics, data science, and operations.
  • Establishes and maintains strong partnerships with Product Management, Architecture, and Engineering to ensure scalable, resilient, and reusable data platform capabilities.
  • Proactively identifies and mitigates risks related to data quality, controls, compliance, and delivery timelines.
  • Actively participates in resourcing and capacity planning to ensure organizational agility and timely delivery of strategic initiatives.
  • Collaborates closely with Product Owners, Technical Product Owners, Business partners, Compliance, Legal, GCO, Finance, MR CoE, and Reporting teams to ensure aligned execution and governance.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A good balance of technical knowledge and business acumen with a proven track record of driving innovation and business metrics with a customer-first mindset.
  • A strong balance of data, technology, and business acumen, with a proven track record of delivering scalable data platforms and measurable business outcomes using a customer-first mindset.
  • Extensive experience in digital product management, data products, or platform leadership, with demonstrated ability to define strategy, prioritize roadmaps, and deliver results through cross-functional teams.
  • Deep understanding of big data platforms, data publishing, governance, and analytics, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into business value.
  • Experience enabling financial reporting, controls, risk, and compliance through data products in a regulated environment.
  • Familiarity with AI, advanced analytics, and data-driven use cases, including supporting responsible AI adoption and intelligent insights across business domains.
  • Strategic thinker with strong customer and stakeholder focus, able to balance long-term vision with near-term execution.
  • Assertive, collaborative leader with the ability to influence across Product, Platform, Technology, Finance, Risk, Analytics, and executive stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage ambiguity, meet strict deadlines, and thrive in a complex, fast-paced, global, and matrixed environment.
  • Strong people leadership skills, including experience leading and developing high-performing teams across multiple time zones.
  • Strong analytical, written, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate strategy, risks, and outcomes to senior leadership.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or a technical field such as Computer Science, Mathematics, or Engineering; Master’s degree in Business or a related field is highly preferred.
  • Time-zone flexibility required.

Salary Range: $144,250.00 to $256,250.00 annually + bonus + equity (if applicable) + benefits

Salary range

  • $144,250 - $256,250 per year
