The Director of this nurse practitioner based center should be familiar with medical office standards, practices, and policies. This position requires leadership, keen attention to detail and organization, strong communication, and fierce advocacy skills. The Director will provide direct patient care, along with supervision, management, oversight, and evaluation of the team. This is a twelve-month position and requires an on-campus presence five days a week, with the occasional weekend or evening hours.Duties and Responsibilities:Duties include but not limited to:Essential:• Serve as the lead Nurse Practitioner to assure care and advocacy for eligible students. Provide care for other community members in the event of an emergency.• Recruit, on-board, supervise and evaluate nurse practitioners and office staff.• Establish and maintain medical compliance standards, guidelines, and policies.• Create and execute a strategic vision for Health Services that aligns with EMSA Division and the University as whole.• Manage and maintain smooth daily operations in the center to ensure students are receiving the best care possible, referrals and follow up when necessary, and assistance with health insurance concerns.• Responsible for immunization compliance, regulatory, procedural, licensing, and reporting requirements for the student body.• Supervise management and security of student health records in accordance with University's• Privacy Practices and review Privacy Practices annually.• Prepare annual immunization report for the State of Massachusetts, and coordinate influenza surveillance program as Westfield State University is a sentinel site.• Manage the department's laboratory certification under the State Department of Public Health• Clinical Laboratory Improvement Act (CLIA).• Participate and oversee in campus outreach efforts including but not limited to: education on college health-related topics, partnerships with local organizations, flu/covid clinics.• Maintain up-to-date Health Services website and all social media accounts.• Collaborate as appropriate with campus partners to create a seamless safety and support network for students and maintain office representation on the University-wide case management team.• Communicate, collaborate, and provide referrals with community-based health resources (local hospitals, physicians, health agencies, local and state Board of Health).• Supervise and manage inventory and ordering of medical supplies and equipment.• Prepare and manage Health Services' budget.• Adhere to professional guidelines and standards inclusive of those from National Association of Student Personnel Administrators, American College Personnel Association, and American College Health Association.• Other duties as assigned by the Dean of Students and/or Vice President of Enrollment Management and Student Affairs.Non-Essential:• Collaborate with the Counseling Center, members of student groups, Student and Academic Affairs in promotion of campus health events and activities.• Communicate, collaborate, and meet with other state university health services' directors as needed.• Coordinate professional development program for staff of Health Services and Counseling Center when appropriate.Job Requirements:Qualifications:• Master's in clinical health field, doctorate preferred.• Licensed Nurse Practitioner, Adult or Family certification preferred.• Minimum of 8 years of experience, with a preference given to those who have College Health experience or extensive work in supervision and management.• Experience in women's health a plus.Additional Information:Salary:Salaries for current Westfield State University employees and individuals currently working for the state of Massachusetts must be calculated individually in accordance with collective bargaining agreements as well as state policies.
