Posting Description

Habitat for Humanity International (HFHI) is seeking an experienced nonprofit operations leader to serve as its Director, Management & Operations Expertise Hub. HFHI's U.S. Expertise Hubs are teams of subject matter experts and collaborative thought partners that – in partnership with local affiliate staff and leaders from across the country – create, connect and curate resources, trainings, and promising practices along dedicated practice areas in support of capability building within the U.S. affiliated network.

Reporting to the Senior Director, U.S. Expertise Hubs, the Director, Management and Operations Expertise Hub will lead a team in the aggregation and collaborative exchange of practice-based knowledge among affiliates in nonprofit management and operations, including topics such as governance and board management, finance, HR, IT, compliance and risk management, and other day-to-day operational topics. This role is responsible for equipping and enabling management and operations expertise hub team members to achieve organizational and departmental goals and values; ensuring hub resources, services, and support offerings are high-quality and collaborative; overseeing thoughtful outreach and engagement strategies to drive awareness, usage, and knowledge transfer into the affiliated network; and creating and maintaining a culture of continuous learning and improvement to ensure products and services address the priority needs of affiliates in relevant, applicable ways.

This position may be based remotely in the U.S. and requires approximately 20% travel.

Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership and Program Execution (40%):

*Develop and oversee the implementation of both short-term (annual) and long-term (multi-year) work plans for the expertise hub to deliver high-quality, relevant products and services to the U.S. affiliate network
*Strategic leadership of, day-to-day management for, and active contributions toward expertise hub team operations, service/support offerings, and work plan projects, including the successful oversight, approach for, and release of the QAC
*Remain up-to-date with sector trends and best practices and collaborate with affiliated network, external subject matter experts, and internal HFHI stakeholders to ensure offerings are current, relevant, applicable, and timely
*Conduct and continuously improve monitoring, evaluation, delivery, accountability, documentation and knowledge management within the expertise hub program strategy
*Serve as a subject matter expert regarding the essential components of operating a Habitat for Humanity affiliate, including nonprofit governance and board management, finance, HR, IT, legal compliance and risk management, and staff and leadership development.
*Conduct other duties, as directed

SME Support and Project/Program Management (40%):

*Lead cross-functional hub projects
*Collaborate with key stakeholders to create, deliver, and evaluate products and services to enhance the capacity of Habitat for Humanity organizations across the United States in the areas of affiliate management and operations
*Facilitate peer-learning opportunities, regarding topics related to affiliate management and operations such as governance and board management, finance, HR, IT, legal compliance and risk management, and staff/leadership development, for U.S. affiliates
*Develop external partnerships to bring in related subject matter expertise and/or national vendor relationships, as appropriate

People Leadership, Coaching, and Development (20%):

*Provide coaching and support to direct reports to equip and empower them for success in their roles and the team's achievement of HFHI's mission, division and department objectives, and HFHI's core values
*Coordinate department staff to deliver trainings and create resources and templates for affiliate capacity building
*Ensure all team members have effective annual job plans and performance reviews
*Provide professional development and coaching to direct reports

Requirements:

*Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
*8+ years professional experience.
*5+ years experience in a nonprofit organization.
*3+ years supervisory experience.
*Strong understanding of best practices, trends, and innovative approaches and leadership experience in nonprofit organizational management and operations, particularly in topics such as governance and board development, finance, HR, IT, compliance and risk mitigation, staff/leadership development, etc.
*Demonstrated people leadership, coaching, and development.
*Experience managing large, complex projects and/or programs.
*Ability to think critically and use data to drive decisions and define success.
*Strong collaboration and communication skills for building relationships and advancing cross-team and cross-functional goals and objectives.
*Strong communicator and facilitator, with an ability to adapt communications and services to relevant audiences.
*Ability to quickly collect data and information from internal and external sources, synthesize and summarize for diverse stakeholders.
*Able to work independently and command respect with people across departments and levels.
*Motivated self-starter with an ability to work independently, meet deadlines, manage multiple tasks and be resourceful.
*Well-developed communication skills, written and verbal, and the ability to effectively communicate across the organization.
*Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) and a general comfort level working with digital platforms (e.g., Smartsheet, SharePoint, Salesforce, online meeting software, etc.).
*Understanding of the HFH mission.

Preferred:

*Experience with Habitat for Humanity, other federated nonprofit organizations, or membership organizations.
*Leadership, project management, or other relevant certifications or continuing education.

The actual salary offered for this role will be based on a variety of factors, including location, internal equity and the candidate’s qualifications and professional experience. HFHI offers a competitive, comprehensive benefits package that varies by country and typically includes vacation leave, sick leave, personal days, health insurance options, retirement plan contributions and life insurance. For work locations in the US, the hiring range for this position is $89,340-$105,100 per year.
