POSITION SUMMARY

The Director, People & Culture translates the organization's strategic and tactical business plans into people processes and policies in order to ensure successful operating plans. The Director of People and Culture is a strategic leader who plays a pivotal role in shaping the organizational culture, ensuring compliance, and fostering a positive and productive work environment.

  • Promotes, designs, implements, and facilitates processes that develop and support human resources services, processes and practices that enhance the culture and overall work environment to enable AtlantiCare Health System to be a "Best Place to Work."
  • Proactively support the mission, vision and core values of AtlantiCare by consistently demonstrating and holding others accountable for demonstrating behaviors and actions that support the brand and philosophy of AtlantiCare.
  • Provides oversight and direction to ensure that the designated function provides high-level customer services and consistency between business practices and values.
  • Continuously communicate the importance of team member and patient experience, quality of care, diversity and inclusion, and sound financial performance. Champion success and priorities for improving performance in meeting/exceeding patient/customer and associate experience.
  • Works collaboratively to develop and implement AtlantiCare's strategy to leverage workforce diversity and foster a culture of inclusion in employment policies and practices.
  • Maintains a visible presence throughout the organization by participating in rounding, town halls and other associate forums.
  • Develops a high-performing, efficient and effective human resources team able to meet the growing/changing needs of the organization as it further evolves its diverse, multi-generational workforce.
  • Partners with leaders/managers to develop and manage predictive staffing plans, resource analyses, skills assessments, and proactive workforce planning/development.
  • Builds and maintains strong relationships with the community and external organizations to further strengthen AtlantiCare's brand and commitment to improving the overall health of the community.
  • Ensures compliance with all regulatory agencies.


Job Responsibilities:

  • Participates in the development of the organization's plans and programs as a strategic partner, but particularly from the perspective of the impact on people.
  • Partners with the CPO, AVP, P&C and HR Centers of Excellence to develop progressive programs to promote employee motivation and engagement, through incentives and rewards for effective and optimal performance.
  • Establishes throughout the organization as a trusted resource, effective listener and problem solver of people issues.
  • Drives understanding and adherence to system policies and programs for effective management of the people resources of the organization, including appropriate escalation and leveraging of experts in the Centers of Excellence in areas such as talent management, employee relations, employee development, and the entire lifecycle of the employee.
  • Implements and monitors HR policies and procedures of the organization by way of systems that will improve the overall operation and effectiveness of the organization.
  • Serves as the most senior advisor and employee relations expert to help influence and support people decisions throughout the site.
  • Works closely with CPO, AVP, P&C to ensure compliance with budget and drive fiscal responsibility in relationship to the system and HR budgets.
  • Provides critical feedback to the CPO to ensure continuous performance and process improvement with respect to programs, policies, practices and processes associated with meeting the strategic and operational people issues of the organization.
  • Evaluates and manages the P&C Team to ensure continual improvement of the efficiency and effectiveness of the group to the customer, collaboration with the entire HR service line, and providing individuals with professional and personal growth opportunities.
  • Ensures organizational compliance with all applicable policies, laws and regulations.
  • Ensures communication is consistent, transparent and frequent with the customer workforce, while also participating leadership rounding to influence cadence that is inclusive, encompassing, compassionate and engaging.


QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION: A Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field required. Master's degree in Human Resources or Business Administration preferred.

LICENSE/CERTIFICATION: SPHR preferred.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum of 10 years' experience working as an HR leader or HR Business Partner
  • Strategic mindset with a drive to execute and get into the details when needed.
  • HR Functional knowledge - Recognized as an HR professional with detailed understanding of employee relations, talent acquisition, learning and organization development, compensation, benefits, and diversity and inclusion to advise business/functional area leaders on shaping a workforce that meets their priorities.
  • Communication - Influences others, including senior leaders, in developing and implementing HR strategies; able to present to audiences of various sizes, to articulate complex ideas and persuade, and to negotiate with others. Ability to flex style and approach with various leaders as necessary.
  • Problem Solving - On a daily basis, solves unique and complex problems that require the application of conceptual, concrete, and innovative thinking.
  • Decision Making/Nature of Impact - Guides decisions in accordance with business or functional area objectives that have an impact on organizational structure, staffing assignments, employee development plans, and compensation.
  • Skills in change management and organizational development a plus.


PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS

Demonstrates the technical competencies as established on the Assessment and Evaluation Tool.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This position requires repetitive motion, fingering, hearing, pushing, reaching, and reading, calculating, seeing, speaking, standing and walking a majority of the time. This position also works with such equipment as computer terminal, fax machine copier and telephone. Occasional driving also required. The essential functions for this position are listed on the Assessment and Evaluation Tool.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP

This position reports to department leadership and supervises incumbents as assigned.
