Job Description

This role is part of the Treasury Data Science team within American Express Global Treasury organization, which serves as a center of excellence for advanced analytics, statistical modeling, and various transformative initiatives leveraging Gen AI. The team plays a critical role in shaping enterprise balance sheet strategy, supporting key decision-making across liquidity management, capital allocation, funding strategy, and regulatory and internal scenario planning under stress.

As a Director, you will have the unique opportunity to work alongside the Corporate Treasurer as her strategic advisor for overall deposits, operating at the forefront of Treasury deposits analytics, optimal funding and long-term balance sheet strategy. This includes setting the agenda backed by insightful analytics across the deposits franchise, influencing business strategies and key balance sheet decisions, building new analytical capabilities within Treasury, and ensuring sound controls and governance of deposit pricing decisions.

Responsibilities

Strategic Thinking

  • Shape and execute on the Treasury Deposits Analytics and Strategy long-term vision through well-defined team projects pipeline, work prioritization, standard setting and operating model with key stakeholders.

  • Design high-impact analytics with data-driven insights on to influence enterprise deposits business and balance sheet strategy, while keeping pace with the ever-changing deposits ecosystem both internally and externally.

  • Build enduring capabilities to enable real-time intelligence around internal and competitive performance, including depositor behaviors, peer dynamics, macroeconomic environment and emerging trends (stablecoins, fintech, etc.).

  • Drive a forward-looking innovation agenda to enhance current tools and processes for improved efficiency.

Partnership and Leadership

  • Communicate with clarity and command senior executive audiences with strong ability to convey messaging and align on decisions.

  • Build and maintain effective partnerships across Finance, Banking Products, Marketing and oversight teams.

Governance and Controls

  • Manage ongoing Deposits Pricing Working Group discussions end-to-end with an eye for continuous improvement.

  • Uphold strong governance around key deposits decisions to satisfy regulatory and internal requirements.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree in accounting, finance or related field is required.

  • 7+ years Finance or analytical experience in the Deposits space

  • Demonstrated proactiveness, intellectual curiosity and a strong external perspective to help shape strategy and influence direction of the team

  • Proven analytical ability to extract meaningful insights from data and synthesize complex trends to drive business results

  • Strong ability to collaborate and drive alignments across teams in a white space environment with ambiguity and minimal guidance

  • Excellent communication and storytelling skills, being able to translate detailed analyses into clear, actionable recommendations for senior stakeholders

  • Strong proficiency in Excel, SQLand Python / R, with experience in building visualization through Tableau, Power BI or Gen AI tools

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MBA or graduate degree is a plus
