Job Summary

The Office for Student Success at the University of Kentucky is
accepting applications for a Disability Program Specialist I within the
Disability Resource Center. Under the working title of Disability
Resource Center Accommodation Consultant, this position will
manage a caseload of 300-500 eligible students with various
disabilities to evaluate student medical, psychological and education
reports and determine appropriate academic and non-academic
accommodations to eligible students with disabilities; apply
knowledge of federal disability law to ensure equal access for
students; address accessibility issues on campus that might provide
barriers to students and members of the university community; work
with students and UK Housing to develop strategies for living at the
university. The position also serves in a consultive nature by
assisting faculty with the provision of accommodation and developing
alternative methods of equitable instruction; mediate issues between
students and faculty regarding the provision of disability related
accommodations; and meet with faculty, other university staff and to
educate on disability awareness issues and disability rights under
federal law.

Student Success will, from the time of early college outreach to
graduation and beyond, support students in living a life of meaning
and purpose. From a student-centered framework, our practice will
be grounded in peer-reviewed literature, national best practices, and
data-informed decision making. Collaborating with the campus and
community, Student Success will work through a holistic lens to
support a community of learners in achieving success.



Skills / Knowledge / Abilities

Knowledge of Assistive Technology and software, Psychological Assessments, Medical Assessments, DSM V Diagnoses and ICD-10.
