Description
Become a part of the team behind the team.
As employees of the Portland Trail Blazers at the Rose Quarter, we do more than basketball. We are blazing trails toward winning championships on and off the court.
We are pioneers and innovators. We look for people who push boundaries, who dream, who are committed to inclusivity – who want to contribute to Rip City!
As our E-Commerce Manager – Retail, you will lead the day-to-day operations of our official online team store, managing product launches, site merchandising, and promotional campaigns while creating a seamless and exciting shopping experience for our fans. You’ll combine retail savvy with digital expertise to ensure our store is engaging, on-brand, and optimized for performance.
Our ideal candidate is a creative problem-solver with deep Shopify expertise, strong merchandising instincts, and a love for data-driven decision making. You thrive in a fast-paced, event-driven environment, enjoy collaborating with cross-functional partners, and have a passion for delivering impactful, inclusive online experiences that connect fans to the team they love.
This is not a remote position. This role follows a hybrid schedule with three days in-office (Tuesday–Thursday) at the Rose Quarter in Portland, Oregon, and two days working from home. Candidates must reside in Oregon; frequent travel to/from other states is not supported for this role.
DAY-TO-DAY:
- Oversee all product uploads, variant setups, tagging, pricing, and metadata in Shopify Plus to ensure accuracy and consistency.
- Maintain and update homepage banners, landing pages, collection pages, and navigation to ensure a user-friendly experience, using Shopify tools or approved third-party apps.
- Collaborate on email marketing strategy and manage digital implementation efforts, while identifying and executing improvements to the e-commerce experience.
- Monitor live site content for accuracy, ensuring inventory, product details, and promotions are correct and accessible to all customers.
- Implement and optimize data capture strategies across the site, including newsletter sign-ups, customer accounts, and checkout flows, to support CRM and remarketing efforts.
- Plan product drops, promotions, and site refreshes in collaboration with the retail marketing team by managing the Shopify content calendar.
- Curate optimized product collections and thoughtful cross-sell and upsell opportunities that enhance the customer’s journey.
- Coordinate the setup, launch, and tracking of site promotions (discount codes, flash sales, gift-with-purchase) to engage a diverse customer base.
- Update and maintain site policies, FAQs, and help center pages to ensure clarity for customers.
- Develop and maintain custom Shopify theme components using Liquid, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
- Implement layout changes and front-end updates that support retail initiatives and maintain mobile responsiveness.
- Partner with fulfillment and customer service teams to ensure smooth order flow, stock availability, and shipping timelines.
- Conduct regular QA testing to identify and fix bugs or broken experiences, especially during high-traffic periods.
- Monitor site performance and SEO using Shopify Analytics, Google Analytics, and other tools; recommend improvements based on insights.
- Work cross-functionally with retail, marketing, and creative teams on product launches, visual storytelling, and seasonal campaigns.
- Translate design mockups or wireframes into fully functional and on-brand site updates.
WE’D LIKE TO HEAR FROM YOU IF YOU HAVE:
- 5+ years of experience in e-commerce, including 2–3 years working directly with Shopify theme development/management and admin tools.
- Proficiency with Liquid, HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and responsive design best practices.
- Experience using analytics platforms (Shopify Analytics, Google Analytics, and/or third-party dashboards) to track, interpret, and share site performance insights.
- Knowledge of SEO fundamentals, web accessibility standards (WCAG), and Shopify’s app ecosystem.
- Strong attention to detail with a commitment to maintaining accurate and accessible content across all digital touchpoints.
- Excellent organizational, project management, and clear communication skills.
- A track record of effective collaboration with cross-functional partners, such as retail, marketing, creative, and customer service teams.
WE’D BE THRILLED IF YOU ALSO HAVE:
- Familiarity with Shopify Plus features and integrations, such as SMS marketing and subscription services.
- Experience using Adobe Creative Cloud (e.g., Photoshop, Illustrator) to create or optimize web content.
- Experience thriving in a fast-paced, event-driven retail or sports environment.
