Physical Requirements

This position requires regularly sitting at a computer workstation for extended periods of time and performing tasks with repetitive motions (such as typing); intermittently standing or walking with objects weighing up to 10 pounds; and occasionally standing or walking with objects weighing up to 25 pounds, and lifting, pushing, and/or pulling objects weighing up to 50 pounds. Also involves some exposure to risk of injury from moving, lifting, or positioning patients, equipment, or materials, and exposure to loud noises, blood-borne or airborne pathogens, and combative/violent people.

Shift

Shifts start times are 7a, 11a, 3p or 7p. Shift time availability/preference will be discussed during interview. Must be able to work three, 12-hour shifts per week including some weekends and holidays. No swing shifts or set schedules.

Job Summary

The Emergency Department Access Associate provides essential clerical and communication support to ensure efficient patient flow and coordination within the Emergency Department. This role plays a key part in maintaining accurate documentation and facilitating timely communication between patients, nursing staff, providers, and outside facilities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain and organize patient charts and records accurately.
  • Answer call lights and promptly notify nursing staff of patient needs.
  • Contact outside hospitals and facilities to obtain medical records and relay critical information.
  • Communicate effectively with the Charge Nurse and Team Leader to support timely notifications to medical teams.
  • Assist in clerical functions to support patient care and departmental operations.

Qualifications:
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Prior healthcare or clerical experience preferred.


Skills / Knowledge / Abilities

Basic administrative skills such as receptionist abilities (including phone, keyboarding, filing, and fax machine skills); knowledge of medical terminology; and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Education/Experience

Two years of college education and experience working in a medical clerical setting preferred.
