Key Responsibilities
- Support compliance with all local, state, and federal environmental regulations and corporate environmental requirements.
- Coordinate and conduct all required site environmental regulatory visits.
- Maintain environmental records and reporting related to air emissions, waste management, stormwater, and wastewater in coordination with site personnel.
- Manage environmental audits, inspections, and permit reviews to ensure ongoing compliance.
- Lead environmental incident response, recordkeeping, and reporting activities as required.
- Collaborate with site and BU teams to identify and support waste minimization, spill prevention, and resource conservation initiatives.
- Support the implementation and continuous improvement of the site’s health and safety programs, with a proactive, risk-based approach to injury and fatality prevention.
- Partner with plant leadership and employees to identify hazards, perform risk assessments, and drive the elimination or mitigation of risks.
- Participate in incident prevention, investigations, and root cause analyses, and support the development and tracking of corrective actions.
- Assist in maintaining records and documents related to the EHS Management System and site standards.
- Support location EHS self-assessment (audit) process and coaching of location Single Point Accountable (SPAs) persons.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Maintenance, and Operations teams to help integrate EHS requirements into new equipment design, process changes, and capital projects.
- Champion the site’s EHS culture through behavior-based safety (Human Performance), encouraging employee involvement and accountability at all levels.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with site management, operations, maintenance, and engineering teams to ensure EHS considerations are integrated into daily operations.
- Collaborate with EHS team members in Barberton as well as in the Cleveland Wheels Operations in a Flow Path approach.
- Participate in business unit and corporate EHS initiatives, best practice sharing, and performance improvement programs.
- Ensure full adherence to Howmet policies, procedures, and the Howmet Code of Conduct.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in environmental, safety, or related discipline from an accredited institution
3+ years of experience in environmental, health, and safety in a manufacturing setting.
Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge of the Howmet EHS policies/procedures and self-assessment/audit process.
Knowledge and experience implementing environmental compliance programs.
