Electrical Assembly Technician

Job Summary: The Prototype Center Electrical Technician will work within the American Rheinmetall (AR) engineering team focused on performing vehicle electrical harness, electronic equipment assembly and vehicle assembly tasks on prototype vehicles and systems to meet schedule, budget and quality expectation of customer. Essential Functions:
  • Working with partners and teammates to assemble AR's combat vehicle electrical, electronic, prototype equipment and systems.
  • Experience performing electrical assembly tasks on military vehicles that include harness assembly and repair (open and molded), electronic circuit board assembly, and support to mechanical assembly of major vehicle systems such as chassis, turret, weapon systems, armor systems, drive systems, and power pack.
  • Must be able to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, manuals, 3D models, specifications sketches, job orders, planning documents and engineering drawings.
  • Experience soldering of connectors, circuit boards, and terminals. IPC certification is a plus.
  • High Voltage system experience such as harness fabrication, motor system operation, High Voltage safety, and system troubleshooting. (>50 V, AC and DC, single and multi-phase).
  • Ability to perform assembly tasks from design drawing and written or verbal work instruction.
  • Experience with assembly of military connectors including D38999, MS5015, M82723, M85049, M3100, Deutsch series.
  • Working knowledge of electrical assembly hand tools, DMC crimpers, power tools, soldering assembly and repair tools, etc.
  • Proven safety record in performing electrical assembly operations during career.
  • Ability to adapt positively to changes and rework during assembly tasks.
  • Proven history of offering input on design and assembly improvements.
  • Ability to work independently.

Supervisory Responsibilities:None Minimum Qualifications:
  • Soldering and crimping electrical contacts.
  • Experience in fabricating / repairing electrical harnesses.
  • Working knowledge of electrical harness assembly and the hand tools, crimpers, soldering tools, required.
  • Experience with High Voltage systems (generators, harnesses, motors, electronics).
  • Must be able to read and interpret electrical and mechanical blueprints, drawings, manuals, specifications sketches, job orders, planning documents and engineering drawings.
  • Ability to perform assembly tasks from design drawing and written or verbal work instruction.
Education & Experience
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Electronics certifications such as CET, IND, IPC, AVN.
  • Higher Education Degree is a plus.
Background Prerequisites:Must undergo and meet company standards for background check, employment verification, reference checks, physical, and controlled substance testing. Preferred Qualifications:
  • Military vehicle assembly or military vehicle modification experience.
  • Familiarity with high voltage electrical systems and electrical harness fabrication / installation in vehicles.
  • Fork Truck, Crane, and basic machine shop equipment skill with certifications.
  • Experience in driving/operating of military vehicles.
