About the role:

Research, design, tests and troubleshoots electrical components and systems, applying principles and techniques of electrical engineering to develop new Electrical options for CSM orders. System troubleshooting ability is required for this position. Work activity is processing CSM design orders with minimum supervision of Manager and collaboration with the team with supporting engineers for electrical concepts. This position provides technical support to CSM Engineering, Manufacturing, NPD, Sales, Scheduling, Test Ops, Tech Pubs, Service Engineering, Product Marketing and Purchasing. This position heavily works on BPCS, Windchill, CAD and CPIs for design, processing orders, implementing solutions by releasing drawings, EOs and ERP updates.

What you will do:

  • Design the Electrical and Electro-Mechanical systems as a part of CSM options offered in the IC and Electric truck orders using electrical concepts, regulatory compliance and specifications like ISO, CEN, ITSDF, UL etc.
  • Lead electrical engineering responsibilities for the CSM group, including releasing CAD models and drawings, EOs, inputting engineering BOMs and routing notes in BPCS orders and Windchill processes, maintaining and resolving issues via CPIs and design improvements.
  • Research and Develop solutions for electrical parts shortages, re-sourcing projects, ML updates, Service engineering requests, customer/dealer requests, and new options designed for product management team projects by designing alternatives of existing electrical systems or designing new.
  • Provide Electrical support and guidance to the CSM Engineers for their projects and initiate new in-house projects to develop micro controller and programming based solutions to convert existing hydraulic/mechanical designs into digital.
  • Coordinate and provide hands-on support for testing activity related to certification or design changes on CSM options. This includes drafting/checking EOs to authorize testing, troubleshooting and development of countermeasures for problems discovered during testing and setup/design work as required.
  • Responsible for the maintenance and troubleshooting of ECM/VCM parameters as they pertain to MLA built trucks with CSM options that deal with tuning engine and transmission performance.


Work Environment and Physical Demands

  • Windows Office products (Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, and Word).
  • Application software such as Windchill, SharePoint, Creo Parametric.
  • Office environment but required to work with associates on the manufacturing line or in the test area as needed for Electrical support.


Work Hours and Expected Travel

  • Hybrid work hours with little to no expected travel (mostly local, if any)


What you need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 0-3 years of experience
  • BSEE 3+ years relevant experience (material handling, Automotive, Off-highway, etc.).
  • Able to create electrical schematics, troubleshoot electrical circuits and do electrical load analysis.
  • Skilled in the use of basic electrical instruments like multimeter, oscilloscope, CANalyzer, etc.
  • Experience with schematic development tools such as CREO Schematics, or ability to learn.
  • Communication skills – understand project requirements, working with team and other stakeholders.
  • Understanding of 3D CAD systems, and able to learn basic manipulation/viewing.
  • Works to promote a cooperative, productive and fast paced environment.


What would be nice to have:

  • Hands-on experience with design of electrical systems involving harnesses and components like motors, valves, controllers, lights etc.
  • Working knowledge of software programming like Python, C/C++.
  • Hands-on experience with building prototype electrical wire harnesses with selection of automotive grade components like relays, switches etc.
  • Knowledge of safety standards such as UL 558 and 583 and ISO.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and understanding cross functional teams' role in implementing projects.
