Join our Facilities team as a Journey Level Electrician and help serve the people that serve the people! Be a key player in maintaining 160 buildings across the County by tackling a full range of electrical duties, and collaborating with diverse teams to solve complex issues. Essential Job Responsibilities:

  • Cultivate seamless communication and provide top-tier customer service across all County departments and within the Electrical team
  • Perform preventive electrical maintenance in all County Buildings
  • Provide efficient troubleshooting and repairs in all County Buildings
  • Coordinate and/or provide expert guidance on County electrical projects to strategically enhance County electrical systems
  • Have strong computer skills to streamline operations and enhance efficiency
  • As an Operationally Essential Employee, report for duty regardless of facility closure or curtailment of some or all County operations, for example during Severe/inclement weather events. (see definitions below)

To Qualify

We will consider any combination of relevant work experience, volunteering, education, and transferable skills as qualifying unless an item or section is labeled required. Please be clear and specific about how your

background is relevant.

Minimum Qualifications/Transferable Skills:

  • Equivalent to the completion of High School (12th grade)
  • A General Journey Electrician License issued by the State of Oregon - Upload in Workday when applying
  • AND four years working at the journey level or relevant training that proves capability in performing the position's duties.
  • Comfortable working in client occupied detention centers, shelters, and behavioral health center environments
  • A valid driver license, and
  • The ability to pass a criminal records check and professional reference check.

All employees must reside in Oregon or Washington; the county cannot support ongoing telework from other locations. **We are unable to sponsor work or student visas.

Preferred Qualifications but not required:

  • Proficient computer skills
  • Experience using Google Suite, Tririga,
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate with a wide variety of stakeholders

Additional Information:

This recruitment may be used to fill full-time, part-time, temporary, limited duration and on-call positions.

Type of Position:This hourly union-represented position is eligible overtime.

Schedule: Tuesday-Friday 6:00am-4:30pm or Monday-Friday 6:00am-2:30pm

Inclement Weather and Disasters

Serving the Public, Even During Disasters

Everyday, Multnomah County staff work together to serve as a safety net for our communities. During a disaster, this safety net becomes even more critical. All County employees have a role in serving the public during inclement weather, natural disaster, or other types of community emergency response. During these emergency responses, while typically there begins with a call for volunteers, county employees may ultimately be reassigned from their current position to a role in the emergency response in order to support the critical needs presented by our communities.
