The Electronic Resources Librarian reports to the Director of Acquisitions and Licensing and supervises the Electronic Resources Unit. The Electronic Resources Unit is responsible for managing licenses, electronic resource access, tracking usage, and providing support to users. The unit is involved in all aspects of electronic resources including trials, activation, maintenance, assessments, renewals, access, cancellations and management of post-cancellation rights.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership and supervision for the Electronic Resources Unit, which includes two full-time remote workers and, as needed, temporary employees, graduate students and student workers.
- Develop, refine, and maintain workflows that ensure users receive seamless, reliable, and user-friendly access to the university’s electronic resources.
- Assess and monitor electronic resources to ensure compliance with federal and state accessibility guidelines.
- Manage the full lifecycle of electronic resource acquisitions and renewals, including license negotiation, license record maintenance, development of best practices, and support for colleagues across the library system.
- Develop and manage effective data-gathering processes for pricing, usage, and other metrics that support collection assessment, budgeting, and reporting requirements.
- Partner with the Coordinator of Liaison Services and the Coordinator of Collection Strategies to enhance awareness and effective use of electronic resources.
- Work collaboratively with the Director of Acquisitions and Licensing and the Coordinator of Collection Strategies on evaluating, renewing, adjusting, and selecting electronic resources.
- Stay current with trends and emerging practices in electronic resource management, including licensing, access, troubleshooting, and related technologies.
Required Qualifications
- ALA-accredited MLIS or equivalent
- Experience in or knowledge of the best practices of electronic resources management
- Excellent communication skills
- Demonstrated leadership, project management, and organizational skills
- Ability to meet the requirements of a tenure track position through research, publication and/or professional engagement
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience managing people and/or projects
- Experience working with library services platforms in managing electronic resources
- Experience with usage statistics and/or data analysis
- Experience licensing electronic resources
