About the role:

The Embedded Systems Engineer will play a pivotal role in launching advanced telematics and assisted systems like RTLS, camera-based systems, AI enhanced services into dynamic forklift environments to enhance operator safety and efficiency. Responsible for the successful Engineering of New Products and advanced systems with a focus on original embedded Software code. Hands-on role responsible for the Telematics, IoT, ADAS systems software development, integration and evaluation to complement forklift design requirements. Projects typically include vehicle control systems, IoT connectivity, and autonomous controls integration. Non-software related responsibilities may include CAN Network design and aid in the basic development of electrical subsystems.

What you will do:

  • Develop software for advanced operator assist functions, ADAS features, Telematics IOT in collaboration with truck design teams in-line with project plan.
  • Development and maintain CAN communication interfaces between various controllers, TCUs, batteries and other advanced systems.
  • Develop solutions to share code cross-functionally for additional embedded systems products.
  • Create test plans for software validation. Analyze results and create documentation and recommendations based on results.
  • Work with sensors and other hardware to implement computer vision and automated solutions.
  • Integrate perception software components and deep learning systems to create prototype systems for automation and driver assist projects.

When & Where:

  • Hybrid Work Schedule (3 days in office, 2 days working from home).
  • The work is primarily done in an office environment with other work locations including development lab, manufacturing line, and field locations such as customer facilities.
  • This position can be performed at our Houston, TX or Marengo, IL campus.
  • 15-20% travel


What you need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, Mechatronics.
  • 5+ years of experience developing complex software systems using technologies related to the role.
  • Proficiency in programming languages (e.g., C/C++/Python) and familiarity with hardware-software interactions.
  • Experience with Linux based development environments, producing original source code for new products.
  • Experience with version control tools like GitHub.
  • Vehicle Networks: In-depth knowledge of real-time control networks, including CAN-based vehicle networks (CAN Open).
  • Experience using basic electrical instruments like multimeter, oscilloscope, CANalyzer, etc.
  • Hands-on professional, who feels comfortable in field environment, where tests and validations are performed.


What would be nice to have:

  • Experience with hardware solutions including cameras, LiDAR, embedded controllers, robotic platforms or other systems.
  • Real-Time Operating Systems (RTOS): Experience with RTOS, I2C, UART or SPI for embedded systems.
  • Experience architecting complete systems on bare metal hardware, including systems interfacing with motors, controllers or similar hardware.
  • Experience with firmware architecture design and development, object detection, operator/driver assist or ADAS technologies etc.
  • Experience in embedded security and Authentication.
  • Experience with Software integration on electrical sub systems.

The salary for this position ranges from $135,000 to $145,000 annually. The specific salary for a successful candidate will depend upon, among other legitimate factors, education, training, and/or experience.
