Essential Functions These are the job duties required of the position.Essential FunctionsFocuses on providing Employee Assistance Program (EAP) clinical counseling services and support for all employees within the University of South Alabama (USA) and USA Health communities; and supports the Employee Wellness Initiatives Committee with activities to engage employees and promote healthier work environments.- Ensures all services are provided in accordance with applicable EAP practices, and in compliance with applicable laws, and performed in a highly professional and confidential manner.
- Supports employees with mental/emotional health needs that may affect job performance by providing counseling, assessment and referral services to employees and/or their eligible spouses and dependents.
- Counsels couples and families, as needed; counseling issues include, but are not limited to: personal problems, alcohol and substance abuse, marital and family distress, financial duress, and workplace conflicts.
- Provides immediate individual and/or large group counseling intervention when crisis, post traumatic, emergency or life-threatening situations occur.
- Travels to various locations to conduct counseling services.
- As legally permissible, works closely with Human Resources staff and supervisors to address and resolve employee relations issues.
- Provides counseling support and workshops to groups of employees on topics such as stress management, conflict resolution and maintaining a positive work environment.
- Becomes knowledgeable about USA health insurance coverage pertaining to mental health coverage.
- Serves on USA committees and as a liaison with other departments such as Student Affairs, external vendors and external community organizations.
- Promotes EAP services system-wide and identifies ways to partner with other USA services.
- Prepares EAP related communications such as brochures and web pages.
- Works closely with supervisors, employees and external treatment facilities to monitor/track an employee’s compliance and facilitate an employee’s return to work, as applicable.
- Works with employees, supervisors and Human Resources Benefits staff to assist employees with transitioning back to work after extended leaves of absence, in accordance with applicable policies.
- Administers and interprets psychological tests.
- Coordinates, develops and promotes projects/activities as assigned on behalf of the Employee Wellness Initiatives Committee.
- Traveling to various locations on campus to provide trainings and services is required.
- Regular and prompt attendance.
- Ability to work schedule as defined and additional hours as required.
- Related duties as required.
