Job Summary
The Kentucky Transportation Center (KTC) seeks applicants for a full-time staff Research Engineer I position in the Pavement, Materials, Geotechnical, and Infrastructure Assessment (PMGIA) Group. Prospective applicants should be interested in multidisciplinary transportation research and working on a broad range of topics. The PMGIA Group performs research in several areas for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, Research foci including pavement design, construction, infrastructure preservation and, rehabilitation, roadway forensic analysis, highway drainage assessment, geotechnical investigations, and remote sensing with mobile and stationary LiDAR.
Prospective applicants should have a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering and have successfully passed the Fundamentals of Engineering exam and be eligible for licensure as a Professional Engineer in Kentucky. The Research Engineer I performs literature reviews, conducts field and laboratory testing, works on data collection and analysis, and reports findings to the research team. The Research Engineer I is expected to help senior PMGIA staff build lasting partnerships with our clients, transportation organizations, and transportation agencies.
