Job Summary
Somerset Community College invites applications for an English Instructor. This position is responsible for teaching 15 credit hours per semester in English consisting primarily of Writing I and Writing II classes. In addition to the teaching duties, instructors are expected to maintain office hours, engage in advising/support, class preparation, curriculum development, assessment, faculty development (in-service, formal coursework, seminars, etc.), and regularly attend college/departmental meetings.
Job Duties:
• Deliver instruction, and instructional activities, and prepare learning materials for courses each semester in accordance with the approved curriculum.
• Use of technology and learning management systems to support instruction.
• Teach in a variety of modalities, including fact-to-face, hybrid, online, and at multiple locations, including campuses, centers, and area high schools.
• Complete instructional support processes such as syllabi development, course assessments, early interventions, and class organization.
• Participate in professional development and college/department meetings.
• Engage in internal service to the college, external service to the community, and fulfill leadership assignments.
• Travel required as needed.
• Teach dual credit students at area high schools, campuses, centers, and online.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Master's degree in English or Master's degree in Fine Arts with a focus in writing and literature from a regionally accredited college or university.
