Job Summary

The Environmental Health/Safety Specialist I supports the college's safety and compliance efforts by conducting inspections, documenting findings, and performing basic safety program activities. This role helps promote a safe learning and working environment and provides an opportunity to develop foundational skills in OSHA compliance, laboratory/shop safety, and environmental health practices.

Job Duties:

• Perform laboratory and shop safety inspections and maintain related documentation with support from the Director of Operations;
• Support ergonomic, fire safety, and general safety reviews;
• Maintain Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and other safety records;
• Coordinate accident reporting and basic incident documentation;
• Support hazardous and biological waste handling under supervision;
• Participate in safety committees and emergency preparedness activities as assigned;
• Perform additional duties to support the Environmental Health Safety Office.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Associate's degree from a regionally accredited college or university in Environmental Health & Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Biology, Chemistry, Industrial Technology, or related field and two years experience, or equivalent;
• Basic understanding of safety principles or willingness to learn;
• Strong organizational and communication skills;
• Proficiency with Microsoft 365.
