The Multnomah County Community Health Center is looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Epic Trainer to join our team! This isn't just a training role—it's a leadership position driving the strategic and optimized use of our OCHIN Epic EHR across the entire organization.

You will be the subject matter expert and strategic partner in how we use our electronic health system to meet our program goals and serve our patients and members of the public. Your deep understanding of healthcare operations and Epic functionality will be crucial in this high-impact, influential position.

As the Epic Trainer, you will:

  • Design, Implement, and Evaluate Comprehensive Epic Training: Apply expertise in Epic, healthcare delivery, and adult learning principles to develop, deliver, and assess a full range of clinical learning programs (including onboarding, workshops, e-learning, and elbow support) that build core user proficiency, drive consistent adoption of new functionality, and ensure alignment with best practice workflows.
  • Provide Technical Training Leadership and Content Management: Serve as an expert consultant to staff and leadership, offering technical guidance on system upgrades, optimization, and quality improvement projects; this includes developing role-based training content, managing a comprehensive training catalog, and building/maintaining training environments, test patients, and teaching aids to facilitate effective learning.
  • Lead IT/IS Strategy, Design, and Optimization: Serve as an IT/IS business consultant and subject matter expert, applying knowledge of industry trends and data analytics to design, modify, and build system workflows that promote seamless application integration, data validity, and security; this includes developing project charters, requirements, and testing plans to implement new application functionality.
  • Analyze, Correct, and Communicate System Improvements: Proactively analyze workflow problems and risks caused by system design or utilization, coordinating corrective actions for deficiencies and errors in the electronic record; then, create and communicate training content, best practices, and corrective action plans to ensure effective utilization by all individuals and groups.
  • Translate and Define Technical Requirements: Serve as the liaison between business stakeholders, IT, and vendors to translate business requests into detailed customer requirements, utilizing tools like use cases, workflow diagrams, and business cases to define clear project outcomes and communicate system limitations and capabilities.

Minimum Qualifications/Transferable Skills*:

  • Bachelor's degree in healthcare administration, business management, or related field. (In lieu of a degree, we will consider relevant education and experience); AND
  • Three (3) years of experience delivering training in Electronic Health Record (Epic) to adult learners.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA):Advanced knowledge of patient care clinical processes, charting and workflows in Electronic Health Records (Epic).

Preferred Qualifications/ Transferable Skills*: You do not need to have the following preferred qualifications/ transferable skills to qualify. However, keep in mind we may consider some or all of the following when identifying the most qualified candidates. Please clearly explain on your application how you meet any of the following preferred qualifications/transferable skills.

  • Experience using Epic Systems software in a clinical or operational setting. Professional level evaluative, analytical, or planning experience is also desirable.
  • Working knowledge of implementation and support of Epic Systems Electronic Health Record (EHR) or Practice Management software systems or experience implementing new functionality in an existing EHR or Practice Management application database.
  • Working knowledge of Epic Cogito Tools.
  • Basic knowledge of patient care clinical processes and workflows
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, management, external contacts, other agencies and the general public, including those from diverse backgrounds
  • Ability to troubleshoot and problem solve in a clinical or EHR setting
  • Collaborate with clinic leadership and users to identify opportunities for efficiencies in clinic operations, clinical practice support, and improved health outcomes
  • Ability to easily adapt to changing priorities and to demonstrate close attention to details
  • Assume project team responsibilities or sub-projects as assigned
  • Advanced written and oral communication skills including the ability to speak in front of groups and to communicate in writing policies, procedures, memoranda and training materials. Ability to operate and communicate effectively while under pressure is essential

Location: Gladys McCoy Building: 619 NW 6th Ave Portland OR 97204. This position is eligible for routine telework, however, the incumbent must reside in Oregon or Washington.

Schedule: Monday - Friday 8am - 5pm

Note: All employees must reside in Oregon or Washington; the county cannot support ongoing telework from other locations. We are not able to sponsor H-B1 visas, F1 or STEM OPT.
