Physical Requirements

Lifting, pushing, and/or pulling objects up to and possibly over 50 lbs. Standing or walking carrying objects up to 25 lbs; Repetitive motion. Work is performed in assigned areas and may occasionally include exposure to weather and elements.

Shift

2:00 PM-10:30 PM Saturday, Sunday, and 3 weekdays to be determined (40 hrs/week)
hours may vary depending on workload factors, nights may be necessary to meet deadlines.

Job Summary

The University of Kentucky is seeking a Student Center Facilities Event Specialist to join the Gatton Student Center team and support the successful execution of meetings, events, and campus programs. This role plays a vital part in creating safe, welcoming, and well-prepared event spaces by coordinating room setups, equipment placement, and event support services throughout the UK Student Center and select campus locations.

You’ll be responsible for setting up and breaking down event spaces, transporting equipment and materials, and ensuring facilities are prepared to meet the needs of students, faculty, staff, and guests. Working closely with the Event Management Office, you will help deliver exceptional event experiences while maintaining a strong focus on safety, efficiency, and customer service.

What You’ll Do

• Set up, arrange, and break down meeting rooms and event spaces according to event specifications and safety standards
• Transport furniture, staging, equipment, and event materials to and from designated campus locations
• Load, unload, deliver, and install event-related equipment and furnishings
• Coordinate with the Event Management Office to ensure timely and accurate event setups
• Direct and assist student and temporary staff in proper event setup and breakdown procedures
• Monitor event spaces to ensure readiness, safety, and compliance with facility guidelines
• Provide exceptional customer service to event organizers, campus departments, and guests
• Support a wide variety of University meetings, programs, conferences, and special events
