Job Description

The University of Nevada, Reno is seeking a dedicated and experienced Facilities Manager to join the Department of Residential Life, Housing & Food Services. This position plays a key role in supporting the Associate Director of Facilities by managing the daily operations, repair, and maintenance of residential and dining facilities overseen by the department. Responsibilities include oversight of capital improvement projects, utility services, fire/life safety and security systems, the lockshop, and direct supervision of HVAC and plumbing trades, as well as janitorial and maintenance contractors. The Facilities Manager also collaborates closely with the university's main campus facilities team on new construction and renovation projects that require permitting.

Key Responsibilities:

• Building Management and Staff Supervision:

Support the Associate Director of Facilities in oversight of operations, services, and systems; recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate trade staff; and plan and coordinate projects and repairs in housing facilities.

• Department Initiatives and Responsibility

Assists in planning and budgeting, collaborates with the Associate Director of Facilities to monitor and oversee sustainability programs and inventory control, support assessments of information technology needs and manages electronic work order system, and ensures fiscal responsibility.

• On-Call Rotation, Safety, and Compliance:

Collaborate with safety departments on campus to ensure compliance with safety policies and laws in the workplace are being followed and serve on on-call rotation and 24-hour back-up duty.

This is an excellent opportunity for a facilities professional with strong leadership and project management skills to contribute to a dynamic campus environment.

Required Qualifications

High School Diploma and four (4) years of related work experience OR

Associate's Degree and three (3) years of related work experience OR

Bachelor's Degree and two (2) years of related work experience OR

Master's Degree and one (1) year of related work experience.

Related work experience: Managerial and leadership skills; Understanding of commercial HVAC systems, commercial plumbing systems, janitorial needs of university housing, maintenance needs of university housing; Planning and managing large scale maintenance and capital improvement projects; Developing and managing preventative maintenance plans or related experience.

Certification and Licensure:

• Nevada Driver's License

• Completion of a recognized plumbing or HVACR apprenticeship program or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Schedule or Travel Requirements:

• Variable work schedule; responding to nights and weekend duty calls as needed and ability to return to campus to deal with critical incidents

• Occasional travel
