Job Summary

Hazard Community and Technical College located in eastern Kentucky is seeking qualified applicants for a full-time, 10-month position of First Year College Success Instructor for online, on-campus, and hybrid instruction on primarily the Hazard Campus. To meet enrollment needs, faculty members may occasionally work on a different campus. The normal teaching load is 15 credit hours per semester.

Job Duties:

Duties to include, but not be limited to:
• Teach both face-to-face, online, and hybrid classes, creating & maintaining an environment that is conducive to learning (15 credit hours per fall and spring semesters). 
• Develop, assess, and revise curriculum/course content (with team collaboration/respect).
• Adapt/share/use varied and effective teaching methodologies meeting learning needs of students.
• Utilize the Learning Management System (Blackboard) to support classroom instruction.
• Provide accurate and informative syllabi to communicate student expectations and establish mutual respect.
• Actively communicating expectations, deadlines, and feedback on work completed.
• Actively recruit, advise and mentor students, maintaining regular/weekly office hours.
• Advise/mentor students in curriculum and career choices (assigned 25-40 advisees).
• Serve on college committees, specifically the First Year College Success Committee, and participate in college/retention activities and events.
• Provide external service to the community and participate in professional development activities.  
• Assist with unit activities and continued academic growth/development.
• Other duties may be assigned based on institutional need. 

Minimum Qualifications:

Master degree in Counseling, Student Development, Education, IT, or related area and strong understanding/use of technology.

Preferred Qualifications:

Prefer a candidate with at least two years of teaching experience with face-to-face and online modalities and experience with a learning management system (Blackboard or similar LMS) and other instructional technology.
