Position Title: Student Help
Location: Instructional Service Center at Unicoi
Department: Welding
Job Summary: The Welding Support Assistant will support the evening welding program at the Unicoi Instructional Service Center. This Federal Work Study position is ideal for a student with welding skills who enjoys working with both equipment and people. You’ll help prepare materials, maintain tools, and assist students in a hands-on learning environment.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be eligible for Federal Work Study
- Ability to operate track torch, band saw, pipe beveler, and hand plasma tools
- Dependable, punctual, and safety-conscious
- Able to follow instructions and work as part of a team
GENERAL JOB DUTIES:
- Cut and prepare materials for student projects
- Assist with maintenance of welding equipment
- Provide peer guidance and support to students on assigned tasks (as capable)
- Operate track torch, band saw, pipe beveler, and hand plasma tools
- Maintain a safe, organized, and clean work area
WORKING SCHEDULE:
- Monday–Thursday, 6 to 8 hours a week during evening welding classes (but hours may increase)

SALARY RANGE:
- Hourly rate based on current Federal Work Study guidelines, $12
