Responsibilities:

  • Receives requests for supplies from the team and places orders for training materials/supplies as requested. Partners with Group Director and Director of Field Restaurant Training to set up conference rooms for training programs and makes copies of training materials, as needed.
  • Coordinates team meetings and fulfills requests for meals through approved vendors as needed for the meetings. Organizes conference calls that are requested.
  • Initiates Orange Folder Process, and processes for department staff in accordance with current company guidelines.
  • Processes Personnel Action Notifications for all Team Members, Team Leaders and MIT’s transitioning in or out of the training program.
  • Receives, reviews and ensures weekly itineraries are completed and submitted by departmental staff. Updates and communicates the MIT weekly training tracker to Area Managers and Training Department.
  • Receives requests for travel and makes the necessary arrangements for Corporate Directors and Corporate Group Directors as required.
  • Maintains the training calendar for the department and distributes the calendar to units each month. Tracks all MIT’s for General Manager Training Compensation program.
  • Maintains the “sign-n-sheets” for all required classes and keeps current files for local and Home Office payroll records. Maintains the class participant schedule in JD Edwards.
  • Issues Team Leader and Manager certificates of completion after all required classes have been taken.
  • Distributes final exams to Team Leaders and Managers, when required. Issues Serve Safe certificates and letters indicating employees test score. Maintains the team leader exams by zone and coordinates with HR for promotions.
  • Receives and reviews travel expense reports from staff and processes per company policy.
  • Initiates Action Request Forms, and processes for department staff in accordance with current company guidelines.
  • Ensures all newly promoted team members have completed necessary requirements prior to attending classes, such as background checks, interviews, etc.
  • Actively engages with all parties to ensure quality of data, communications and reports
  • Processes and codes all training invoices. Routes invoices for approval and sends to Accounting department prior to weekly deadline.
  • Reviews annual budgets including merit reviews
  • Assumes additional responsibilities as assigned

Education:

  • Associates degree required or any combination of equivalent education and work experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree or any combination of equivalent education and work experience preferred

Experience:

  • Experience in contributing to the management of projects is preferred.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point and Visio is required.
  • 6+12 months’ experience preferably in restaurant industry

Knowledge, skills & abilities:

  • Basic professional or theoretical knowledge and fundamental concepts, practices and procedures of a particular field of specialization in the execution of assigned duties and responsibilities
  • Basic understanding of budgetary concepts and procedures
  • Intermediate understanding of departmental structure and policies with a basic understanding of the cross- functional structure and policies of Whataburger Restaurants LLC
  • Basic ability to delegate tasks and get work done through others

Working Conditions/Travel Requirements:

  • Expected to work the necessary time to satisfactorily fulfill job responsibilities
  • Must be able to report to work timely and as required by operational/business needs
  • Must be able to work a full-time schedule and work outside of normal business hours when necessary
  • Must be able to travel occasionally both locally and long distances (including air travel), to worksites, meeting sites, and other locations
