Job Summary

Big Sandy Community and Technical College is seeking a detail-oriented and student-focused Financial Aid Advisor I to join our Financial Aid Office. This position plays a critical role in helping students navigate the financial aid process, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and institutional regulations, and supporting student success through financial literacy and access.

Job Duties:

• Provide front-line customer service to students, families, and staff regarding financial
aid processes and deadlines.
• Assist with the intake and review of financial aid applications and documentation.
• Enter and update student data in financial aid systems with accuracy.
• Maintain organized student files in compliance with FERPA and other regulations
• Respond to general inquiries via phone, email, and in person.
• Support outreach events and financial aid workshops.
• Perform basic verifications on submitted documentation.
• Refer complex or unusual cases to senior staff or supervisors.
• Participate in ongoing professional development and training to stay current with financial aid policies, software, and best practices.
• Assist with other duties such as the scholarship process and special projects as assigned by the director of Financial Aid.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and data entry systems

Preferred Qualifications:

Prefer a candidate with basic knowledge of financial aid terminology and processes.
