As a Financial Planning & Analysis Specialist, you play a key role in turning data into insight that helps our leaders make smarter, bolder decisions. By building forecasts, analyzing performance, and partnering with teams across the business, you help ensure Whataburger’s growth is both disciplined and dynamic.

Day-to-Day Ingredients — Responsibilities
As a Financial Planning & Analysis Specialist, you will:
- Build and maintain financial forecasts and budgets
- Perform variance analysis and identify key performance drivers
- Develop and enhance financial models to support planning and decision‑making
- Analyze financial and operational data to surface risks and opportunities
- Partner with business stakeholders to develop assumptions and insights
- Prepare recurring and ad hoc financial reports
- Support long‑range planning and strategic initiatives
- Improve reporting tools and processes for efficiency and accuracy

What You Bring to the Table — Required Experience
As a Financial Planning & Analysis Specialist, you must have:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
- 2+ years of experience in financial analysis, planning, or related roles
- Strong financial modeling and analytical skills
- Intermediate Excel proficiency (formulas, modeling, data analysis)
- Solid business acumen and understanding of financial drivers
- Strong problem‑solving and critical‑thinking skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment
- Clear, effective communication and stakeholder‑partnering skills
Extra Toppings — Desired Experience
As a Financial Planning & Analysis Specialist, we prefer you to have:
- Experience supporting forecasting, budgeting, or long‑range planning cycles
- Exposure to large data sets or financial reporting tools
- Experience improving or automating reporting processes
- Background partnering with cross‑functional or operational teams
Where & How You’ll Work
This role is based at the San Antonio Home Office, working on‑site Monday through Thursday with remote flexibility on Fridays. In this role, you’ll have strong collaboration with leadership, across cross-functional teams, and with external partners to align capabilities with restaurant realities. The work environment is fast‑paced and requires sound judgment, strategic thinking, and strong collaboration skills. Full‑time availability is required, with occasional extended hours based on business needs, along with occasional travel to properties, project sites, and external meetings. Candidates must reside within commuting distance of the San Antonio Home Office.
