Job Summary

The Financial Specialist I provides essential financial and administrative support to ensure accurate, timely, and compliant resource management within a college, program, or department. Working under general supervision, this position is responsible for accounts payable, transaction processing, and fiscal support for multiple campuses while ensuring adherence to institutional policies and applicable regulations.

Job Duties:

• Process and reconcile accounts payable transactions to ensure accuracy, compliance, and timely payments.
• Review, edit, and reconcile ProCard transactions for various campuses.
• Monitor and maintain purchasing card activity, collections, and accounts receivable transactions.
• Enter vouchers and requisitions, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of submissions.
• Prepare and submit utility payments (gas, water, and electric) for various campuses.
• Retrieve utility bills from vendor websites; forward documentation to approve and maintain/update the utility spreadsheet.
• Process reimbursements and assign appropriate funding codes in accordance with institutional policies and regulations.
• Maintain and track financial records using established systems and procedures to support compliance and reporting requirements.
• Respond to fiscal inquiries by providing clear, accurate, and timely information based on established standards, policies, and guidelines.
• Collaborate with faculty, staff, students, and external partners to support financial operations and promote excellent customer service.

Minimum Qualifications:

Associate degree in accounting, business, finance, or a related field; or equivalent work experience.

Additional Skills Requested:

• Strong attention to detail with the ability to analyze and reconcile financial data.
• Working knowledge of accounting principles, financial systems, and reporting processes.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills to interact with diverse stakeholders.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook); experience with financial management software preferred.
