As a Food Safety & Quality Assurance (FSQA) Technician, you play a critical role in protecting our guests, our team members, and our brand. Every day, your work helps ensure our food is safe, our quality standards are met, and our restaurants deliver on the Whataburger promise.

Day-to-Day Ingredients — Responsibilities

As a Food Safety & Quality Assurance (FSQA) Technician, you will:

  • Analyze quality and food safety data to identify trends, risks, and improvement opportunities
  • Support and track corrective actions to ensure effective and timely resolution
  • Partner with cross‑functional teams to address food safety and quality concerns
  • Evaluate supplier and product performance against internal and regulatory standards
  • Assist with complaint investigations, root cause analysis, and risk assessments
  • Prepare reports, dashboards, and documentation for FSQA leadership
  • Support compliance with food safety regulations and company standards
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of FSQA processes and procedures

What You Bring to the Table — Required Experience

As a Food Safety & Quality Assurance (FSQA) Technician, you must have:

  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience
  • 3+ years of experience in food safety, quality assurance, or a related field
  • Working knowledge of food safety systems and quality assurance practices
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and identify trends
  • Experience with root cause analysis and corrective action processes
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and reporting tools
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities

Extra Toppings — Desired Experience

As a Food Safety & Quality Assurance (FSQA) Technician, we prefer you to have:

  • Experience supporting foodservice, restaurant, or manufacturing environments
  • Familiarity with supplier quality management and performance evaluation
  • Experience working cross‑functionally to drive process improvements
  • A continuous improvement mindset with a proactive problem‑solving approach
  • Experience preparing presentations or reports for leadership audiences

Where & How You’ll Work

This role is based at the San Antonio Home Office, working on‑site Monday through Thursday with remote flexibility on Fridays. In this role, you’ll have strong collaboration with leadership, across cross-functional teams, and with external partners to align capabilities with restaurant realities. The work environment is fast‑paced and requires sound judgment, strategic thinking, and strong collaboration skills. Full‑time availability is required, with occasional extended hours based on business needs, along with occasional travel to properties, project sites, and external meetings. Candidates must reside within commuting distance of the San Antonio Home Office.
