About the Opportunity Fortis is a civil group that has entered the signalization and ITS space, with approximately $5M in work secured over the past 10 months. We are building out our core operations team and looking for someone who wants to be part of the foundation — not just fill a seat.

Role Overview This is a true foreman/superintendent-level position. The right candidate must be able to step onto a job site and run work independently from day one. This is not a driver or general labor role — we are looking for a plug-and-play hire with proven crew leadership experience in traffic signal and roadway lighting construction.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Lead field crews on traffic signal and roadway lighting installation projects
  2. Perform and oversee civil/structural scope including demolition, drill shafts, foundations, and setting poles and mast arms
  3. Operate digger derrick, bucket truck, and excavator
  4. Coordinate traffic control in compliance with DOTD and municipality requirements
  5. Ensure IMSA certification compliance on-site
  6. Manage project sequencing and crew productivity to meet schedule

Required Qualifications

  1. Minimum 10 years of experience in traffic signal and/or roadway lighting construction
  2. Demonstrated foreman or crew leadership background
  3. Proficiency operating digger derrick, bucket truck, and excavator
  4. Experience working within DOTD/DOT and traffic control requirements
  5. Ability to work independently without a formal training program
  6. Must pass a pre-employment urine drug screen
  7. Clean motor vehicle record (MVR) required

Preferred Qualifications

  1. IMSA Level I and/or Level II certification
  2. TCT/TCS certification
  3. Journeyman Electrician License
  4. Electrical/ITS integration knowledge (electrical scope can be subcontracted)

Compensation

  1. Starting at $35/hr — commensurate with experience
  2. Truck or truck allowance provided
  3. Target start date: early June

We are an equal opportunity employer, and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, disability status, protected veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law.
