Job Summary
Pediatric Hematology and Oncology seeks a genetic counselor to support patients, families, and our team. The person in this position will provide genetic counseling and education to pediatric patients both independently and collaboratively with physicians and advanced practice providers. Patients are seen in person and via telehealth.
The genetic counselor will contribute to patient care coordination through risk assessment, evaluation of patient medical and family histories, selection of appropriate genomic tests, and pre and posttest genetic counseling. This role also involves interactions with professionals at UK HealthCare and the larger community to promote appropriate and equitable delivery of genetic services.
Applicants who have a valid Genetic Counselor Certification are eligible to be hired into a Genetic Counselor Senior/UKHC position, which is a grade 13 ($71,323-131,685/year).
Applicants who have a Temporary Genetic Counseling Certification at time of hire are eligible to receive a pay increase and be moved into the Certified, grade 13 role once the full certification has been obtained and 90 days of successful employment have been completed.
All pay rates will be based on candidate’s experience.

MS Office; Strong verbal and written communication skills, as well as interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and deductive reasoning skills. Organization skills, as well as the ability to prioritize work assignments and work independently.
