Responsibilities

Join one of SAM’s most impactful geospatial teams, where your leadership and technical expertise will help deliver some of the nation’s most complex transportation projects. From major highway corridors to federally funded DOT initiatives nationwide, your work will directly support infrastructure relied on by millions every day.

As a Project Manager, you’ll serve as a leader within our transportation group, overseeing all phases of aerial and terrestrial mobile LiDAR and photogrammetric projects from proposal planning and estimation through final delivery. You’ll work closely with a dedicated team of experienced technicians, setting workflows, defining expectations of project outcomes, tracking metrics, and communicating with clients while maintaining high level of quality standards, and mentoring the next generation of geospatial leaders. This is a high-impact, high-visibility role for a seasoned geospatial professional who enjoys balancing leadership with hands-on involvement and business development.

  • Project Planning and Management:
  • Direct communication with the client, to define scope and project expectations
  • Develop and manage proposals, project workflow and plans, defining schedule budgets and deliverables
  • Manage all facets of the project during the life of project, including billings and contracts for assigned mapping projects
  • Coordinate resources, including personnel, equipment, and materials, to ensure project milestones are met
  • Communicate and coordinate with other internal managers for timely accomplishment of quality data acquisition and pre-processing
  • Monitor project progress, identify technical and/or financial risks, and implement mitigation strategies as needed
  • Communicate regularly with stakeholders to provide updates on project status and address any concerns
  • Team Leadership:
  • Lead and motivate a team of geospatial managers, technicians, and supporting staff
  • Provide guidance and support to team members, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment to ensure long-term growth of the department
  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback to team members to enhance their professional development
  • Participate and collaborate in internal strategic goals of the aerial mapping department, providing productive feedback and identifying needs for improvement.
  • Quality Assurance:
  • Ensure that all geospatial mapping data meets quality standards and specifications
  • Implement quality control measures throughout the project lifecycle to minimize errors and deviations
  • Work closely with clients to understand their requirements and ensure deliverables meet or exceed expectations
  • Compliance and Safety:
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, permits, and safety protocols
  • Conduct risk assessments and implement safety measures to prevent accidents or injuries during aerial mapping operations
  • Stay abreast of industry trends and best practices in aerial mapping technology and methodologies
  • Business Development/Client Communications:
  • Participate in business development for Geospatial opportunities and maintain strong client relationships
  • Develop and conduct presentations to clients and other critical stakeholders
  • Effectively interface with sub-consultants and any other business relationships associated with the Geospatial Services
  • Provide Geospatial support to other operational units as needed
  • Support corporate strategic initiatives
  • Serve as Company representative at meetings and presentations


  • Qualifications



    • Minimum of 5 years progressive experience in Photogrammetry and Aerial/Mobile LiDAR
    • Proven experience supporting Department of Transportation (DOT) projects
    • Strong professional ethic holding principles and values, beyond just legal requirements, ensuring integrity and serving as a trusted advisor to our clients
    • Strong leadership skills with the ability to effectively manage and inspire a diverse team
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact professionally with clients, stakeholders, and team members
    • Ability to meet fixed deadlines and work as a team member
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen attention to detail
    • A portfolio of past relationships with AEC firms and DOT agencies is preferred
    • Proficiency with Microstation, Terrasolid, and TopoDOT is preferred
    • Bachelors degree in Geography, Photogrammetry, or related curriculum from an accredited college preferred
