Pay Range
$101,500.00-$139,600.00 AnnualThis is the base salary pay range that an applicant can expect to make upon hire. Pay within this range will vary based upon relevant experience, skills, and education among other factors. In addition, this position is eligible for an incentive bonus.
The purpose of the Glass Furnace Engineer role is to work within a cross-functional, global engineering team to achieve corporate, divisional, and departmental objectives in a collaborative environment across a broad range of industrial manufacturing facilities. The Glass Engineer will be responsible for leading capital projects and management of all operations encompassing raw material receiving through to molten glass delivery out of two forehearths. This includes conducting audits and providing direction for improvements for those operations, as well as supporting rebuild projects focused on shut down, demolition, construction, and start up.
Your Day-to-Day:
- Utilize glassmaking furnace experience to guide projects to cost effective, best practice, designs to ensure successful project with respect to quality, technology, cost, and schedule
- Participate in the development of scopes, specifications, schedules, and investment grade cost estimates for multi-discipline industrial manufacturing capital projects worldwide up to $20M
- Define and execute raw material handling and furnace monitoring and auditing processes - build and maintain data systems for all batch house and furnace related activities.
- Utilize working knowledge of refractory properties/applications to ensure optimal refractories are used in projects to meet life expectancy and financial goals
- Utilize working knowledge of glassmaking operations to assist with ongoing furnace life expectancy issues and hot repair requirements
- Lead projects and site work to create a safe work environment
- Build and maintain solid relationships with key contractors who support the melter maintenance
- Supervises/Leads individuals or a project team to achieve milestones and objectives by setting priorities and providing direction. May provide feedback for performance evaluations
- May be required to perform other related duties as assigned
What You Bring to the Team:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, with a minimum of 5 years’ engineering experience in industrial or manufacturing industry
- Working knowledge of glass manufacturing and equipment optimization preferred
- Strong project management skills
- Solid leadership skills
- Solid interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Demonstrated high level of drive and initiative to complete assigned tasks and investigate and seek out improvement opportunities
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
- Proficient in project scheduling software (MS Project, Primavera)
- Experience managing contractors and sub-contractors, including bid process
- Experience preparing estimates, schedules and project deliverables
- Proven ability to negotiate and manage change
- Exposure to SAP systems a plus
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Ability to interface at all levels of the organization, both internally and externally
- Minimal travel required (10%)
- Work environment is typical of a manufacturing facility: May be exposed to environmental conditions of cold, heat, high noise levels, moving mechanical parts, heights, dust/mist/gas/fumes, extensive walking or climbing, etc.
- May be required to lift, carry, push or pull up to and including 50 pounds
