Position Purpose

Reporting to the Service Manager, the Apprentice Service Technician is responsible for receiving equipment, performing PDI’s, prepare units for delivery and retail deals, assist experienced Technicians with diagnosing, repairing and maintaining various types of heavy machinery, aerial equipment, generators, and other equipment for construction, industrial, agricultural and government applications. This will provide the practice and knowledge required to advance as Technician within the company. Always providing the best customer service possible by focusing on customer uptime, utilizing Gold Coast JCB unique abilities as a JCB authorized dealer in the territory.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

    • NOTE: Duties and responsibilities will vary depending on the level of technical knowledge or academic preparation and will evolve as the person gets more experience on specific tasks.
    • Complete and turn in reports that capture all time and work completed, with clear notes.
    • Provide diagnostic analysis, repair, or preventive maintenance for customer and company machines.
    • Assist and work with other technicians on complicated jobs and when required or for training purposes.
    • Complete system audits and evaluations on machines.
    • Assists with customers product clinics, field days, and related promotional events as needed.
    • Review work orders for completeness and accuracy, for Service Manager to be able to close and process billing.
    • Keep Service Department tools, equipment and company vehicles in good working and safe conditions.
    • Practice and adhere to all safety policies and training.
    • Maintain a clean and professional image according to JCB and Gold Coast JCB standards.
    • Conduct business in alignment with company’s Mission, Vision, and Core Values.

Essential Job Qualifications

    • Some type of Diesel or Technical education or related field.
      • Will consider equivalent work experience in lieu of educational qualifications.
    • 3+ years of experience as Service Technician or similar position, in a heavy machinery, truck, or diesel engine industry.
    • Bilingual (English / Spanish) will be preferable but not mandatory.
    • Good written and verbal communications skills.
    • Knowledge of heavy machinery, truck or diesel engine industry.
    • Strong computer skills to perform diagnostics, complete and submit reports, etc.
    • Ability to travel.
    • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds.

    • Able to lift up to 75 pounds * Use hands, arms and legs fully; grasp, manipulate and assemble small to large objects with the aid of forklifts or cranes as needed; see and hear well.
      • Must be able to hear well with or without aid.
    • Good hand eye coordination.
    • Communicate by speech and hearing in person at a basic English and Spanish proficiency.
