Description
Under broad supervision, the Administrative Assistant III-Intern will assist the Nurse Consultant and the Immunization Program at Georgia Department of Public Health during the summer semester. The intern will provide administrative support for the School and Childcare Assessment and Education sections. The intern will have a multitude of different tasks to perform each day that may include providing technical assistance to internal and external providers, immunization program partners, and constituents. The intern will also perform administrative duties which involve the handling of confidential information and often require extensive research and data collection. During their time with the Immunization Program, the intern will gain knowledge of how the Immunization Program functions on both the state and district levels, how the program works directly with constituents, and how the work performed daily impacts the lives of people across the state of Georgia.
Job Responsibilities
Job Duties and Responsibilities (overall tasks and expectations of the position):
- Provide support to office and district staff, update school and childcare sites in the School and Childcare Database (SCAD)
- Provide technical assistance related to SENDSS and SCAD
- Provide administrative and technical assistance to internal and external customers; answer and triage incoming calls for the program as needed
- Assist with constituent request for immunization records and questions
Minimum Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications (based on the job code):
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university AND currently enrolled in a graduate program relevant to the area of assignment.
One year of experience in performing general office work to include duties such as telephone usage, filing, typing, handling customer’s questions or complaints, data entry, computer usage
Preferred Qualifications (based on the needs of the position):
Two years related experience
Knowledge and skills related to the use of the Georgia Registry of Immunization Transactions and Services (GRITS)
Knowledge of current Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) vaccine recommendations

Other Information (various scheduling options, standard office hours, travel required, etc):
This is currently a hybrid position, requiring reporting to the office two days per week to complete administrative duties, attend meetings and/or trainings. Standard office hours are Monday-Friday (8:00am-5:00pm).
