Physical Requirements

This position requires intermittent sitting at a computer workstation for extended periods of time; performing tasks with repetitive motions (such as typing); intermittent standing or walking with objects weighing up to 10 pounds; occasional standing or walking with objects weighing up to 25 pounds; and occasional lifting, pushing, or pulling objects weighing up to 50 pounds.

Job Summary

The Inpatient Coding Supervisor oversees daily inpatient coding operations to ensure timely, accurate, and compliant coding in support of hospital billing. The role provides supervision, performance management, and training for inpatient coding staff while monitoring productivity, quality, and adherence to ICD 10 CM, ICD 10 PCS, DRG assignment, and regulatory requirements. This position collaborates closely with CDI, compliance, and revenue cycle teams to improve clinical documentation, resolve denials, optimize reimbursement, and maintain the integrity of coded data. Effective 7/1/2026, this position will report through the Enterprise Revenue Cycle department in Beyond Blue.

Skills / Knowledge / Abilities

The ideal candidate must be proficient in ICD-10-CM coding; knowledge of medical record abstraction and medical terminology (including anatomy and physiology); have the ability to manage multiple tasks and/or projects while accurately completing routine functions in a fast paced, high intensity, professional work environment; proficient in Microsoft Office 365, EPIC, Solventum Products; excellent attention to detail; exceptional planning and organizational skill; effective written and verbal communication skills; ability to solve routine problems; demonstrated ability to provide superior customer service, time management, and judgment; and respect for confidentiality and diversity.

Preferred Education/Experience

HS diploma or equivalent; Associate or Bachelor Degree Preferred; 0-4 years of related/progressive experience, Academic Medical Center Level I Trauma coding experience preferred.
