Position Summary
The Human Resources Generalist supports the Office of Human Resources operations by performing a wide range of HR functions with efficiency and accuracy. The position assists with the administration and implementation of relevant HR procedures, policies, processes, reports, documentation, and regulations, as well as the preparation of employee events/functions and special projects. The HR Generalist should be knowledgeable and up-to-date with compensation, benefits, handling day-to-day employee relations concerns, and coordinating the recruiting and onboarding process. The Human Resources Generalist reports to the Director of HRIS and Compensation.

Note: position is based in San Antonio, TX, primarily on the Broadway campus, with the potential for hybrid work following orientation and role establishment.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities
  • Strong knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, including ADA, ACA, FMLA, HIPAA, Title VII, FLSA, and related statutes.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present information clearly and make effective recommendations.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with employees, leadership, and cross-functional partners.
  • Strong collaboration skills, with the ability to contribute effectively in a team environment and support the coordination of employee events and initiatives.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret data and make informed decisions.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with integrity, professionalism, and discretion.
  • Proven ability to exercise sound judgment and make independent decisions in complex or sensitive situations.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (e.g., formulas, pivot tables, data analysis, and reporting); strong proficiency in MS Word, PowerPoint, Outlook and Teams or equivalent.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Acrobat, including creating fillable forms, editing documents, and managing secure files.
  • Experience with, or the ability to quickly learn, HR systems (Banner) and talent management systems (e.g., PeopleAdmin).
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures.
  • Employee shall adhere to all applicable rules and regulations of the University, the Conference, and the NCAA.


Required Education
Bachelor's Degree.

Required Work Experience
Two (2) years of professional human resources work experience.



Preferred Qualifications
Experience working in higher education.

Work Hours
Typical Monday through Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm with occasional extended hours/weekends to meet departmental needs, especially in the planning and execution of events.

Physical Demands
  • Ability to lift up to 10lbs of office/events materials.
  • Ability to reach overhead, bend, squat to retrieve office/events materials.
  • Ability to push/pull event carts holding up to 40 lbs.
  • Ability to actively engage in events for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to regularly move about campus and event venues to actively engage faculty, staff, and potential/current students, as well as attend meetings on and off campus.
