BRG is seeking an exceptional Human Resources Intern to support the HR Operations team and the broader HR department. This internship offers hands-on experience supporting day-to-day HR operations, maintaining accurate employee records, assisting with staff inquiries, and collaborating with HR team members.
This is paid internship and is an ideal opportunity for a student or recent graduate interested in starting a career in Human Resources.
This position is on a hybrid schedule, reporting to the Washington D.C. office 3-4 days per week from late May – early August.
Responsibilities:
- HR Operations Support:
- Learn about the company's HR policies, employee benefits, and other HR-related information to be able to respond to internal staff inquiries.
- Assist with employment verification and document requests for current and former employees.
- Draft routine letters and templates, assist with records requests, and help update and audit personnel files with guidance.
- Help schedule meetings, route incoming mail, and complete general administrative tasks for the HR team.
- Reporting and Collaboration:
- Help maintain process documents and internal trackers to support timely and accurate handling of employment-related actions.
- Use MS Excel to help generate and update basic reports for the HR team and internal stakeholders.
- Assist in using data and reports to create presentations, dashboards and trend analysis.
- Collaborate with HR partners (Benefits, HRIS, Recruiting, Payroll, Workplace Services, and IT) on projects and process improvements.
- Event Coordination:
- Support special events and team meetings, including catering requests, vendor coordination, and expense processing.
- Assist with other projects as assigned, with an emphasis on learning HR operations best practices.
Requirements:
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Psychology, or a related field.
- Curiosity and genuine interest in learning HR processes and basic regulatory requirements.
- Ability to handle sensitive information with a high degree of confidentiality and professionalism.
- Strong customer service mindset and clear written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple tasks with guidance.
- Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office.
Salary Range: $20-$22 per hour
Candidates must be able to submit verification of his/her legal right to work in the U.S., without company sponsorship.
