
(I) Laser Engraving Technician - 2nd shift
Responsibilities
JOB SUMMARY:
Responsible for operating laser engraving equipment to accurately identify and mark various tools and inserts with correct corresponding identification numbers to ensure tooling controls are in place.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Clean and prepare tooling for 2D Marking utilizing tool room die cleaning standard work.
- Ensure proper placement of components in either storage or 2D Engraving equipment to avoid damage and ensure accurate engraving placement.
- Utilize tool room inspection equipment to identify or confirm zero defects to tooling prior to use.
- Confirm with Product Engineering correct tooling identifiers prior to engraving.
- Attend training functions, possibly including after work study and/or travel to obtain technology updates.
- Maintain a high attendance record.
- Abide by plant safety rules and promote safety awareness.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
- Prior experience using hand engraving or other mechanical tools used in a shop environment.
Moderate Microsoft Excel skills.
The ability to interpret blueprints and technical drawings is required.
High school diploma or GED equivalent from an accredited institution. Addition training beyond the high school diploma is a plus.
EXPERIENCE:
- Basic shop equipment knowledge and skills preferred.
- Mechanical aptitude is necessary.
- Experience with overhead cranes and mobile equipment.
- Handling and transportation of dies.
- Experience with CAD/CAM systems is a plus.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Some heavy lifting up to 25 lbs.
Use of hand tools
Minimal use of 10x magnifying glass
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Mechanically inclined and strong troubleshooting skills
- Proficient mathematical skills
- Good hand eye coordination
Tools and equipment used to perform the job may include but are not limited to the following pending the employee skill set:
Ultra-sonic cleaner, pneumatic impact wrenches, hand tools, stamps, measuring tools, die cleaning equipment, drill and tool sharpening machines, computers, overhead cranes, and measurement/inspection equipment.
