Physical Requirements

This position may require sitting at a computer for an extended time. At times standing and/or walking for extended periods and lifting of up to 10 lbs may be required. Frequent travel between various Lexington facilities and other occasional job related travel.

Shift

Primarily Monday-Friday 8AM-5PM with occasional evenings and weekends per departmental needs.

Job Summary

UK HealthCare IT Informaticist role serves as a liaison between IT and our Clinical customers. This role will be held accountable for establishing strong credibility & collaboration with our physicians, customers, department, leadership, affiliated organizations, and all IT staff members. This is a highly matrixed organization which requires excellent interpersonal skills, persuasion and influencing skills, ability to lead large multi-disciplinary teams, and manage a significant and varied portfolio of work assignments. This position facilitates the continued development of the Electronic Health Record journey leading the optimization and usability of the electronic medical record. This individual will focus on system requirements, strategic planning, workflow analysis, efficiency metrics, metric validation, usability analysis and system design for optimization and enhanced outcomes.

Primary responsibilities include: Execution of assigned project tasks for departmental and IT Governance approved projects to achieve project milestones; Leads IT Advisory Councils and activity. Actively participates in the organizational performance improvement teams, No Harm teams, and other enterprise improvement initiatives that identify opportunities for hardwiring improvements; Ensures system capabilities support enterprise standards, evidence based practice, clinical decision support, and achievement of meaningful use; Accountable for identification and measurement of key metrics for projects, business plans, regulatory agencies and other identified sources; Collaborates with Quality and Safety, Clinical Departments, Finance, and Bioinformatics. In addition, this position has a critical role in the data standardization and data definitions underlying the EHR.

Skills / Knowledge / Abilities

Qualified candidates must have demonstrated informatics, workflow analysis, and/or benefits realization experience. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of process, content and relationship management and clinical processes. This individual must be results-oriented with the ability to effectively collaborate with a diverse group of individuals. Must be customer-focused and possess strong functional technical, critical thinking, problem solving and communication skills.

Preferred Education/Experience

Master’s degree in the following areas preferred; MSN, MHA, MBA, MHI, Education, Communication, and/or Healthcare. Five years direct patient care, and 2 years of CIS experience also preferred.
