Position Overview
Alvernia University seeking a creative and collaborative Instructional Designer to partner with faculty in designing engaging, accessible, and pedagogically sound courses—primarily for online and hybrid delivery. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience in course design, including developing instructional materials, assessments, and multimedia content that align with learning objectives. This role requires a strong understanding of modern instructional technologies, effective teaching strategies, and a passion for creating exceptional learning environments for diverse learners.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with faculty to design, develop, and revise online, hybrid, and technology-enhanced courses.
- Partner with subject matter experts to translate course objectives into clear, measurable learning outcomes.
- Design course deliverables such as learning activities, assignments, assessments, rubrics, and multimedia content.
- Develop interactive and engaging instructional materials, including videos, simulations, discussion prompts, and self-check exercises.
- Apply learning science and instructional design best practices to create engaging, student-centered learning experiences.
- Integrate a variety of delivery modes and instructional tools to support diverse learning styles.
- Ensure courses meet accessibility and quality standards.
- Evaluate and revise course materials based on student feedback, assessment data, and evolving best practices.
- Stay current with emerging educational technologies and recommend innovative solutions for teaching and learning.
- Support the evaluation and continuous improvement of instructional design processes and materials.
- Manage Online Peer Review
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, Educational Technology, or related field.
- Demonstrated experience designing and developing courses, including creation of instructional materials, activities, and assessments.
- Experience designing courses for online, hybrid, or technology-enhanced delivery.
- Strong understanding of instructional pedagogy and learning theories.
- Proficiency with LMS platforms and common educational technologies.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and project management skills.
Preferred:
- Master’s degree in Instructional Design or related discipline.
- Experience in higher education or working closely with faculty and subject matter experts.
- Familiarity with accessibility standards and universal design for learning (UDL).
- Experience with multimedia creation tools (e.g., Adobe Creative Cloud, Camtasia).
