Overview
Cambrex High Point is currently seeking exceptional candidates to Intern. A successful candidate will be joining a group of innovative and entrepreneurial scientists, and will be required to work on project(s) relevant to either Engineering R&D or Process Engineering chemistry. Intern will present their project at the end of the intership to the Cambrex High Point colleagues. As a Chemical Engineering Intern, you may be exposed to multiple aspects of R&D, Chemistry, cGMP, Flow Chemistry, API Production or other areas through orientation meetings, shadowing, and on the job training.
We are looking for a candidate who has a passion for learning and working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Intern candidates must be 2nd year student or above, currently enrolled in a BS or MS Degree program in Chemical Engineering or related field. Experience in a laboratory environment is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Basic understanding of undergraduate chemical engineering curriculum.
- Basic understanding and awareness of key engineering R&D equipment (e.g. pumps, heat exchangers, reactors)
- Educational exposure to cross functional technical departments.
- With manager supervision, able to comply with SOPs and basic regulatory guidance
- Limited understanding and awareness of key analytical R&D equipment; can operate with supervision
- Good oral and written communication skills
- Ability to handle key assignments with supervision
- Basic understanding of the laboratory investigation process
- Shares ideas with peers.
- Ability to keep a good laboratory notebook and perform data entry, compliance with GDP
- Ability to organize work efficiently and manage time effectively.
- Ability to work within a matrix team
- Willing to learn and grow within the local Cambrex Team
- Conduct laboratory operations in a safe manner.
- Maintain familiarity with the company’s chemical hygiene plan.
- Exhibit safety awareness and safe work practices.
- Follow responsible actions regarding chemical disposal. Maintain compliance with all regulation at the federal, state and local levels.
Qualifications / Skills
Excellent verbal and written communication/interpersonal skills, organizational skills, and the ability to work in a diverse team environment are essential.
Proficiency with Microsoft software (SharePoint, Word / EXCEL / PowerPoint) is expected.
Qualifications
Must be a 2nd year student or above, currently enrolled in a B.S. or M.S. in Chemical Engineering or related field. Experience in lab environment is preferred.
