Responsibilities

Howmet Fastening Systems (HFS) is seeking a Quality Intern in our Carson, California location.

We are seeking highly motivated and energetic students for the 2026 summer intern program at Howmet Fastening Systems. The program consists of 10-12 weeks of structured hands-on training involving plant tours, seminars, networking events, and projects selected to add direct value to the business. At the conclusion of the program, interns will present their projects to plant managers, supervisors, and mentors. An internship at Howmet Fastenings Systems will provide an invaluable experience that you can utilize in any roles, and it’s Howmet Aerospace’s goal to evaluate our interns for potential entry-level openings.

This position will report directly to the site’s Quality Manager with daily coaching from the team’s quality engineers and technicians. The Howmet Aerospace Summer Internship Program will include engaging in impactful projects to assist the company and the student’s professional development.

Automated Inspection & Automated Testing Data Collection

  • Program automated inspection systems to capture real-time measurements for reporting and tracking purposes.
  • Utilize existing tester capabilities; transfer data directly to spreadsheet for future data analysis to improve processes.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Able to work full time, onsite for a minimum of 12 consecutive weeks beginning in May or June 2026
  • Able to provide own transportation for position at Carson, California.
  • Relocation assistance not provided

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • Must be enrolled in a bachelor’s degree or graduate degree program by the start of employment.
  • Minimum completion of Sophomore level coursework from an accredited institution.
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program in Engineering (Materials Science & Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Ceramic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, etc.) from an accredited institution.
  • Basic programming recommended
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Teams, etc.).
  • Must be proficient working in a Microsoft systems environment.
  • Prior Internship work experience.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent analytical skills

Salary: This is a salaried, non‑exempt position offering $52,000 annually, and the position is overtime‑eligible under California labor laws, with overtime paid in addition to base salary.
