Description:

The Spanish Interpreter is responsible for providing interpretation to the patients and staff of the Health Center in at least two different languages. He/she will translate for our Spanish speaking patient populations during their clinical visits, over the phone, in person and over other means. He/She will also collaborate in the enhancement of the quality of services to patients with Limited English Proficiency (LEP) and will report to the Director of Interpreter Services.

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 11:00 PM - 8:00 AM. Eligible for differentials.

Education

  • Completion of a medical interpreter certification program required.

Experience:

  • 1-2 years of interpreting experience in a medical setting in the United States.

Skills/Abilities:

  • Verbal and written bilingual skills required. 
  • Demonstrates competence in the provision of culturally appropriate interpretation.
  • Able to perform different interpreting modes.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate and work as part of a team with other colleagues.
  • Understanding of patient rights.
  • Computer skills preferred.
  • Highly motivated and able to prioritize.
