Position Description
Provide hands‑on technical support, service desk triage and resolution, and site infrastructure administration for the Elecsys Olathe facility. This role is critical to sustaining production operations by maintaining high availability of local networks, audiovisual rooms, and shop‑floor endpoints. The position also supports local IT projects, drives service desk quality and documentation and supports international users.
Position Details
This is a full-time position, located in Olathe, KS. In office Monday – Thursday with option to work from home on Fridays depending on business needs and manager discretion. Occasionally planned after-hours or off shift work to support production schedules and minimize business disruption.
Responsibilities
Site Infrastructure & Networking Support
- Monitor and help administer local site infrastructure including servers, switches, firewalls, databases, A/V systems and network-connected shop-floor equipment.
- Assist in diagnosing LAN/WAN connectivity issues—including VLANs, DHCP, DNS, and general communication problems—and escalate to central IT teams when appropriate.
- Support onsite network equipment by performing physical checks, verifying cabling and power, and completing guided tasks provided by infrastructure engineers.
- Monitor network performance and escalate outages or risks impacting business or production.
- Support site cybersecurity initiatives by assisting with implementation and documentation.
- Independently execute and coordinate approved IT projects specific to the site, including upgrades, installing new hardware, assisting with minor infrastructure updates, replacements, process improvements and communicating expected downtime or local impact to site personnel.
- Act as the local IT point of contact for cross-functional and global IT initiatives, ensuring site needs are represented and executed effectively.
Service Desk & Case Management
- Provide on-site and remote desktop support for end users, including international colleagues.
- Triage, resolve, and continuously improve ticket quality in ManageEngine ServiceDesk Plus, including adoption and maintenance of the Solutions/knowledge base.
- Maintain accurate inventories of IT assets including computers, network equipment, phones, and shop-floor devices
- Coordinate tasks and site-related project work in Jira when applicable.
- Take end-to-end ownership of incidents and requests, providing clear and proactive status updates to end users and site leadership.
- Track and report site-specific KPIs, service levels, and site-based initiatives.
Required Experience
- Experience in providing on-site desktop and IT support, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong troubleshooting skills for Windows endpoints, peripherals and meeting rooms.
- Working knowledge of service desk tools, preferably ManageEngine ServiceDesk Plus.
- Baseline networking knowledge (switches, firewalls, IP addressing, troubleshooting connectivity issues).
- Strong communication skills with the ability to provide clear status updates to site leadership and end users.
Preferred Experience
- Experience with Jira for task and project tracking.
- Experience supporting shop-floor systems.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Intune, including shared or kiosk‑style device profiles.
- CompTIA Network+ or equivalent networking certification.
- Experience supporting international users or global IT teams.
Physical Requirements
- Comfortable working at heights when supporting network, AV, or infrastructure equipment.
- Ability to climb ladders and access overhead cabling or mounted hardware.
- Ability to lift and move IT equipment such as computers, monitors, and peripherals (up to typical IT equipment weights).
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods while supporting production and office environments.
